Will Al Qaeda try to influence the 2008 elections?

On Oct. 29, 2004, just four days before the U.S. presidential election, al-Qaeda leader Osama bin-Laden released a videotape denouncing George W. Bush. Some Bush supporters quickly spun the diatribe as “Osama’s endorsement of John Kerry.” But behind the walls of the CIA, analysts had concluded the opposite: that bin-Laden was trying to help Bush gain a second term.

I'm afraid Al Qaeda will try to pull something like this again. Obama is fairly well-liked in the Islamic world, and it's in Al Qaeda's interests to pump up anti-American sentiment in the middle east. Right now, the most anti-American clerics in that area don't believe that an Obama presidency is possible; they are sure McCain will be elected. If these clerics are proven wrong, and Obama is elected, this could discredit them among Muslims.

If Osama bin Laden releases another tape late this month, you'll know why.

Of course they'd want McCain elected. He'd continue to drain our resources into Iraq when they're needed much more at home. That drains our national vitality over time, making us weaker. Bush has been doing their bidding for five years, and McCain seems intent on continuing along the same path. There has been no better ally in Al Qaeda's fight against America than Bush. Bush single-handedly threw away two trillion dollars worth of our economic vitality by invading the wrong country. I'm sure Al Qaeda's been partying down about that decision (and its effects) for the last five years. They're probably having orgasms of pleasure watching our economy tank. I'd be surprised if they haven't made Bush an honorary Al Qaeda member. No one has done more to harm America than Bush has.

lets see, obl spent ten million dollars and lost 20 soldiers in return for 3,000 american lives in the world trade center, 4,000 american lives in the iraq war and the decimation of a country he didn't like anyway. not to mention nearly a trillion dollars to prosecute the war.

They'd been trying to goad us into hitting back for at least a decade prior to 9/11. That was their entire goal, to instigate an overreaction by the US.

Because I thought of this, here is a semi-relevant poem:

Sounds just like the advise Joe Bidens mom gave him when he was a kid! Cool!

I used those pictures to illustrate one thing. Al Qaeda must have wanted us to kill them to the last man, but not before they were able to cut a few heads off. This must have been their evil genius, which I was previously unable to see. Thank you. I apologize for not previously supporting terrorists, and by proxy, Obama.

Obviously there needs to be wisdom in knowing when that bit of advice is applicable and when it isn't. (Hint: International diplomacy is an example of when that advice doesn't apply.)

The goal of terrorism is not for them to actually do significant damage to us. It's to make us hate them so much that we exhaust ourselves trying to hunt them all down.

we should drop bombs in afganistan and retreat out of iraq,plus iraq had nothing to do with 911 and the terrorist operatives. we killed a noble leader that kept that countries economy held high,granted sudam killed his people,but bush also killed his people by sendin them into somewhere that they didnt belong,iraq is vietnam allover. McCain got snuffed last night and Obama owned him.
