how good does the wick system work? i hear most people doin the flood system but i'm not sure bout it. does the wick system do alright? i jst wanna grow 3 decent sized plants

Wicks are fine for small grows. You don't get the root oxygenation that you do with a recirculating system with plants in pots of low to moderate absorbency media like Fytocell or pellets, but a wick will definitely grow plants with low effort & maintenance.

ok wat kind of medium should i use in it? and will 2 4oo wat cfls cover the lighting?

Perlite's good for wicks.
You won't ever find a 400W CFL and you wouldn't want it if you did. CFLs produce low intensity light.
A 250W HPS is a nice light for a small personal smoke grow.

alrite thnx alot man. one more question all i gotta do is mix my nutrient solution in the tank wit the pump and put the wicks in the pots my plants are in? that's wat it said to do on this site i was lookin at and i jst wanna make sure thats right

Your link describes a Hempy bucket, not a wick system. I think you willfully intended to deceive the thread starter- bad rice, hombre.
Hempy buckets are not wick systems. They keep roots submerged in the bottom of the bucket without oxygenation, This is a recipe for root rot. A wick system avoids this inherent fault.

alrite for three plants should i jst use 2 wicks like shown in the diagram or should i use a third wit it by the other plants roots

I think I'd use individual pots rather than the tray arrangement shown in SimplyHydro's diagram and I'd probably use 2-3 wicks in each pot.
