Why so cheap? (1000w sun system 10 ballast - $165 - amazon)

This ballast is a switchable 1000w, made by sun system. I currently use sun system lights in my cabinet and I'm more than happy with them.

My question is, why is this ballast $150+ cheaper than some of the other brands? I mean, with a 240v power cord, eye hortilux bulb, and socket - I'm still under $300 total.. which is what it costs for a decent lumatek 1000w ballast.

I realize it's not digital, should I assume it's probably pretty noisy and puts off a decent amount of heat?

Does anybody have any experience with this ballast?

i know someone who got a 1000 watt light w/ hps and mh bulb, it is air cooled.. ballast, cord, mh and hps bulb were under 300 bucks.. htgsupply.com

I emailed HTGSupply to ask them to match the 304 or 339 diigital lights on ebay and they replied back no they couldn't match it. Didn't bother quoting me anything else, just nope. K and so I bought my light for 339 with two bulbs, cool tube and a digital ballast for 339. Not from HTG, big shock right.

If they would have came back with a counter offer I may have went with them for name alone. Didn't even waste their time on me, not worth their time.

I bought a 600 watt lumz and bloomz magnetic ballastand bulb for $200, i hate the thing it seems like its getting louder .

its not a complete set, you gotta buy a bunch of other shit to make that work.

I feel like a moron because HTG has the quote thing on their page. Anyway after all the researching, in the end, shopping until my eyes bleed. Can't beat HTG and Digital Greenhouse. Will be going with that.
