Why must you be logged in to view thread pics but not journals?

You can pretty much wade through journals w/o being logged in. Pics, friends, posts, etc. Everything but post, basically. Is it supposed to be like this?

I'm not worried about the NSA* as much as google and other web crawlers. I think it's reasonable that the forum text be available to them but I don't like them storing all the journal details, etc. But that's my unsolicited opinion.

the answer would be because people have it set to public even guests. and not site private only

Yes, that makes sense, although for security reasons I would think a better option would be to have it set private by default and let the user open it up. Thanks sunni!
