maybe cuzz la is a sprawling shithole with no real downtown area or big city feeling? I donno..

Read the threads from last year. It's because the city of LA chased them out, then Glendale (I think, might have been Burbank) chased them out. San Berdoo was the only place they could find to hold it. I guess the venue worked.
