Why is my blue dream lime green? :(

Blue dream, about 9-10 weeks old, first grow, fed HALF OF the mix of a gallon of solution composed of 1/8 tsp/.6mL each of A and B Canna for Coco (which we use).

this was the second time- last time we did about 2-3x that and we burned it. stupid directions on the back of the bottle :) anywho, we had what my bf said were fungus gnats- I think they were just the little black ants that have been invading our house/yard lately. we washed it with a hydrogen peroxide solution we researched as a solution. this is when it started to turn light green :( that was about two weeks ago.

here it is today after the feeding described above. any ideas?

You should be using around 2ml per litre if both A and B.

Have you been to the canna nutrient calculator?

Just adjust the selections to match everything you're doing.

Choose LIGHT FEEDING.

if you are only using the A and B just follow the amounts it gives you EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU WATER.


The canna coco nutrients have an NPK if I remember correctly of 5-4-3. This is plenty of N to stop the lime green if you'd been feeding enough.


I'm an Ex canna coco user myself.

Are you testing nutrient strength? Ppm? EC? TDS? Etc

Are you testing your nutrient pH?

Also when you water coco you should aim to achieve 20% runoff out of the bottom of the pot.

Once its list approx 50% of its weight water again.


When I say water I mean water with the coco nutrients.


Coco is a soiless medium, meaning it has very little nutritional content on its own without feeding nutrients.

legit! thank you! although based on our input info we should be feeding either 7.1 or 8.4mL EACH/gal?! i feel like that's... a lot. maybe i'm doing something wrong inputting our data? 1gal container, soft water, .2EC, light feeding, using mL and EC.

i think that's why it's been sputtering lately. i thought about that earlier and it makes perfect sense, especially since at one point it was in miracle grow, which i've learned runs pretty hot. :)
also it's been hot as balls in texas, like 90s, and often i leave it out back on our wooden deck, which obviously absorbs heat. do you think the heat of the wood on the surrounding deck could be hurting/singing the roots?
 
Ok.

So.

If you are testing your EC.

What EC is your starting mix normally?

When you water, collect the runoff and test the EC.

What's the difference between your IN vs OUT EC?

If the EC drops in the runoff, for example.
EC of your feed 0.6
EC of your runoff 0.2

Then you are under feeding.

If you aren't testing your EC then the light feeding schedule will work just fine for you have some faith.

I'm currently using

45ml of A and B in 18litres of water.

My EC going IN is 1.5.

My runoff EC is 1.4.

This means my plants are feeding pretty evenly.


But then you've read my thread so you should have a little more understanding about EC in vs EC out.

Coco is NOT soil and should not be used as such.

It definitely need nitrogen. Doesnt really look heat stressed too badly but when leaves make a V shape it means its a bit warm.

ummm idk what the EC was :/ the Greek MS reading BEFORE was 18, after adding nutes was 125ish. we didn't test the run off. we'll do that next time. i really want to put it into flower by my bf is insisting we wait till it's a little healthier, 3-7 days, and maybe one more watering. what do you think?

stupid question- it can get head stressed from being outdoors on a hot, wooden deck, yeah? i feel like our deck radiates heat that may be damaging some other plants i have out there.

I've been using coco for nearly 4 years. I know a hungry plant when I see one.


The trick to measuring your runoff is to look for any increase or decrease in strength.


Gauge this with how the plant looks overall and you can grow yourself some winners.


I'm about to update my thread with 4 pictures of my girls soon.


Glad your plants doing better.

Maybe you can start flowering in a week or so like your bf wants!
