Why is a legalization a joke?

Politically speaking....

I grow and smoke, so I don't want to draw attention to myself by writing my congressman every week or getting involved in norml. This makes me feel like a hypocrite or a coward at best.

Anyone feel the same way??

Legalization is still seen as a joke because their are still people that believe in all the horror stories the govt. made up to make marijuana illegal in the first place..

It's the gateway drug, once you smoke a week later you will be shooting up H.
It turns everyone who smokes it into mindless zombies, never leaving the confines of their couch.
Once marijuanas legal babies will start smoking it right out of the womb.

And probably the biggest reason politicians are against it..

The drug, paper and alcohol industry have their hands so far up politicians asses they control what happens in our country. They are afraid of what they will lose if Marijuana is legalized.
