Why do I cough my ass off when I take a good vapor hit off of my Verdamper?

Hello everyone!

Why do I cough my ass off when I take a good vapor hit off of my Verdamper? I thought you weren't supposed to cough after using a vaporizer? After a couple of fast draws, this vaporizer produces a dense mass of wonderful vapor and that's when I start to cough. Oh yeah, the strain is White Rhino. I've heard it is a harsh "smoke." Do certain chemicals in the strain cause me to cough or is it just the ton of vapor I'm inhaling?

P.S. There is absolutely no burning going on. I always cover the top completely with my hand so the highest amount of heat is applied to the erb, which I think (but am not sure) is 210 degrees Celsisus..

I wouldn't be using that high of a temp, 210c is like 410F?

You need to run it between 365F (185C) and 392F (200C). If you can progressively turn it up from 365F to 392F...


And yeah it's normal to cough a little, but not cough like you just took a huge rip off a blunt.

The vapor tickling your throat/lungs is whats going on I'm pretty sure. I think it makes your lungs feel like it needs to cough something out (but you don't REALLY) so you cough.

I keep a drink around and a sip quells my little coughs.


As for the chemical question, strains don't contain certain chemicals that make you cough persay. The coughing thing is kind of a combination of potency, and many things about the drying/curing/growing conditions of the bud. BUT if the growing nutrients arent flushed from the medium and the plant before you harvest it, it can retain some harsh qualities. It won't burn right either...

Unless you feel like your dying or your lungs are burning or something really bad I wouldn't worry.

Thanks, man! Everything which I had was grown organically and flushed a little bit. Not over-flushed, but getting there. The plant was still light green when it was harvested. Sometimes, I have a mini coughing fit, but nothing like taking a huge bong rip.. Sometimes I feel a burning sensation at the back of my throat after vaping heavily. Water does help when I feel like coughing. It seems like the vapor dries out my lungs, which probably isn't the best thing for them.

I've got the IOlite; which I LOVE!

However, yeah; I cough my ass off sometimes; so much so that water comes out of my eye sockets.. I don't get this smoking a J, Bong, etc..etc.. But a Vap; be it via a Volcano or my own IOLITE; too much makes me cough hard.. So bad that I need to end the session.
