why cant I germinate?

I have grown 2 plants( both from clone) and now Im trying to grow from seed but I have had no luck. I soaked 3 seeds for 24 hrs and planted them into some peat pellets. none of the the 3 seeds germinated! I have 2 more seeds that I soaked and planted but this time I planted them strait into FF soil. Its been 3 days and still no sprout! what am I doing wrong?

wait longer dude..sometimes it takes longer.i had seeds take up to 1.5 weeks..next time keep the seed in the cup of water till it cracks then plant them..

put the seeds in a cup of water till it sinks to the bottom. Then put the seeds in between wet paper towels, and put that inside a ziplock bag. The humidity will help them crack and show root. Use tweezers as the oils in your skin will damage the root. And do not plant them too deep. maybe a 1/4"

i actually did wait until the cracked open. I then planted them but still no success! I dont have a heater mat to put them on. Do i need to get one?

Hey, I'm having some problems with germination, too. I tried planting some seeds directly into pots with soil - no soaking beforehand or anything. I put these under lights, which I don't recommend to anyone because they dry out super fast and I'm having to spray them several times per day which just isn't practical. It's been nearly a week and all the seeds have their tap roots, but only one has actually sprouted up above the surface of the soil. I don't think this guy is going to make it, because he's wearing his seed shell for a hat for the past three days with no signs of any leaves.

So I'm trying to figure out the fastest, most reliable way to germinate seeds. Everyone seems to swear by the paper towel method, so I'm giving that a shot. I put about six seeds into a wet paper towel, put the paper towel into a ziploc baggie, and put the baggie on top of my Xbox 360 to keep it warm. I've also started two more seeds directly in pots using a different planting medium (the first ones were planted in a compost/potting soil mixture, and the other two are planted in a sphagnum/vermiculite mix), which I plan to keep out of the light until they sprout.

I've grown plenty of plants before, but never this one =) Flowers and veggies are a snap compared to this.

ive put seeds in soil on a windowsill and had good results. i think your over thinking it. just dont let them dry out.

Hmmm. I've never tried the paper towel method. I'm pretty new at this too, and am in the middle of the flower stage on my seeds (all bag seeds as a practice run). To sprout my seeds, I just got one of those small little bowls like you get sauces in at restaurants, put a very small amount of water in the bottom of the cup (just enough to where seeds were half in and half out of water), covered the top with a plastic baggie and set a book on top of it to keep it dark. Within 2 days, ALL had sprouted with a nice little quarter inch tail. Put them in 4" starter pots with good soil, and they all grew. Sadly had to get rid of one super skunky plant (male). The biggest one is some type of sativa. Not a lot of odor, but smells kinda peppery. Since I've only tried germinating this way with bag seeds, I'm almost afraid to try this method with the seeds I am fixin' to buy (WW and a skunk/orange variation). Has anyone else germinated their seeds this way?

I put a wet paper towel on a plate, then put the seeds on wet paper towel. Then i put another wet paper towel over the seeds and put seran wrap over the pate. and put another plate over top of them until they germinated. When they finally did ( after about 2 days) i put them into the soil and put a piece of seran wrap over the cup i planted them into. They sprouted in a day and a half. Maybe try this
