Why are My Plants so Skinny?

who me?..
anways you plant is stretched to fuck. your absolutly best bet is low stress training..fancy words for saying bending your plant.
you bend you plant over and all of a suddend the side braches want to become top braches witch means more main colas. iits what you need to do. just train it around the pot in a circle will streangthen up th stim at the same time. its all up to you buddY

All the stress techniques in the world (LST, Topping, Supercropping etc.) won't mean a hill of beans if the plants are deficient in light. In this situation, LST might result in more flowers yes.. but under a shady, tree canopy it would only mean more underdeveloped, "popcorn" buds and certainly not better quality and/or higher yields. A lack of any 1 of the 4 basic ingredients for proper plant growth and development will result in plant-failure (Moisture, Warmth, Oxygen and finally Sunlight) None are any less important than the other but, in this case it looks like the latter.

View attachment 1610767here is some of my bagseed from last year...started the seeds on June 21. You can get great resuts with it. 6 ounces for me
One of my best strains is bag seed from a local strain that been growing around here for 20 years. They consistently grow 6+ feet and yield a lot of dense strong buds.

Bag seed is a gamble, but it does work out a lot of the time.

It looks like they're smack bang in the shade of the amazon rain forest, they get very little sun bro c'mon.
This is what u have to do or u will get nothing, 1-water well around base, 2-have a empty pot handy, 3-transplant the plant into the pot either with spade or buy hand digging it out and get about 6" soil around the plant base, 4-take the plant to a new area where there is sunlight 5- replant it in new hole in at least 6 hours DIRECT sunlight a day 6-water in well.
Dont fert for at least aweek after transplant.

I'm not even going to read past the first page. For the love of weed people, quit telling everyone bagseed is weak shitty weed that won't grow normally. The problems with bagseed are: unknown strains, and they are likely hermaphroditic (in my experience). It grows the same as seeds you spend your $$ on. Skinny plants from bagseed, thats one of the dumbest things I've read on here. Its all about the grower. Thats a bagseed in my profile pic, btw ;) I grow mainly bagseed, and a couple clones from the dispensary, and honestly, my bagseed has been better weed most of the time. The only real advantage to the named strains is knowing how long they will take to finish flowering and a very general idea of what it should look like when finished.

Very nice job you did there with those 2 ladies, beautiful bro!!!
Thanks Awill, growing is a passion for me, and not just Canna. I enjoy growing canna as much as I like to smoke it. Every fall I say a little prayer of thanks to Nephthys for a sucsesful harvest and thank the canna plant as well for the bounty of her fruits. Does anyone else fell a little pang of guilt when they chop?

Quick question.

Would cold weather make them grow like this? I still plan a relocating them to a nearby hill, will roughly twice the light, but I was wondering if the abnormally cold temps ( about 40F on several nights ) during the seedling stage would cause this?

Also, with the orange kush seedlings i've got, how long should they veg indoors?

Out of curiousity is that plant in a Jiffy pot in the soil?..I've had experiences with planting with jiffy pots that caused my plant to look like that. To correct it I busted up the sides of the jiffy cup to allow the roots to grow outwards. Just a thought.

No problem... once I saw your pics it looked way to familiar to me :)..in the future I would strongly advise against using Jiffy cups directly into soil, the roots bust thru the bottom well, but as far as the side walls...not so much!

Here's a plant I started from seed (bag seed mids) outdoors a month ago in a relatively low light area (probably around 11 hours of direct light right now, at start was only getting about 10):

It got kind of beat up last night... stupid storm... But it's lookin alright. The screen is there because height is an issue for me, and I need to keep the height near that level.
There are lots of things that could contribute to your plant being too skinny. It could very well be lack of light, it does look stretched, but it seems like you're growing in a very lush area. It could very well be that the roots are not getting many nutrients out of the soil that they could because other plants in that area are sucking up the nutrients.

Ah I didn't see that it's just in a jiffy pot:
1) Make sure no other plante is alive in your jiffy pot
2) Your roots need more space, 10+ gallon pot is probably best for outdoor.

My female seed co c99 was a ufo freebie, so I'm not worried about it. I got mosca c99 too and they are doing great so far. Is your c99 from clone or seed? If seed then what company?
From seed. I don't buy clones. Female Seed Company(It's So Easy) is the Cindy 99 I run.

Yes, seeds are wanting to be babyed and by the looks at thoses they problaby took 2-3 weeks to get that big after they sprouted. Get some clones an more direct sunight. Also by the looks of the picture, i would dig out a big area where you want to plant tha fill it with fox farm, or a good organic mix or nice soil. If you are trying to be under cover about it, put the old dirt + leaves on top.
