But Ron Paul is in the house; as a Republican. When he ran for President, he ran as a Republican. I know it must be unpleasant for you, knowing that Paul knows right from wrong, and knowing that he's a Republican, and you're not. Right?

Ron Paul is a Republican congressman from Texas. He ran in the presidential race last year as a Republican until McCain won the republican side of the race. Ron Paul switched from a Republican to an Independent and kept running for president. He did not run form presidency to actually win the presidential seat. He ran to help the ongoing revolution and was very successful at pulling a group of people together with the same belief system as his. I know this because I was with him at some rallies

Isn't that kinda like it must be true, because it has to be true, because it is in fact true he didn't get the republican nomination but he did in fact keep running.
So no not really an independant only because he needed to be but yes another fucking republican. But he's a resonable republican with what appear to be slightly different things that drive him than others. Maybe... And I say that only because his voting records supports the idea that he is in fact not the typical republican at all, which makes it very easy for anyone else to support him without the guilt you think that guy should feel or whatever for supporting a "republican".

In 1988 (before you were born) Ron Paul ran for president as a Libertarian.
When he failed to win, he turned back to the Republican party to secure a seat in Congress.
He is still a self-described Libertarian, but yes, there is an (R) after his name (Libertarians caucus with republicans, after all, so it isn't as if he's going out on a limb or anything).

Libertarians caucus with the republicans, just as Progressives caucus with the democrats.
