Paying for health insurance is fuckd. I live in Canada we dont have to pay for ours, depending on your job.

I say people should pay for it. I can not think of many other things I'd rather insure, maybe my home/apartment but my health takes the cake. I am a very healthy 25 year old and my mother is a RN and can help treat most anything not requiring surgery. But no one is bulletproof. And if you decide you are and (god forbid) through some devastating illness or injury find out you are not, we all foot the bill if you are not insured.
I have paid upwards of $800 a year for car insurance I have never used, but am still glad I have it, should (god forbid) I happen to get fucked one day. I pay $200+ a year for renter's insurance I have never used, but am still glad to have it, should (god forbid) I happen to get fucked one day.
And I will gladly pay for health insurance that I will likely rarely use, so that I never have to worry about losing everything because I get sick.

while i think its a really awesome thing that the US is trying to move forward, i worry about the financial consequences of the bill. i know that i read this should actually decrease the deficit, but...i worry that the complete opposite would happen and that this would bankrupt the country. because if the US tanks, they're gonna take canada with them

i think its bullshit its my money i should not be told what i do and dont have to spend it on. probly just like iol those fuckers on the hill have there fingers in the health bus and are only trying to make themself richer and pull shit like that when the economy is as bad as it is and people realy cant afford it. unless payment is based on income like hud is set up is the only way it would prove to me that they are only doing this for us

It is based on income. You get help on insurance if you make less than $88,000 or so, depending on which version they signed into law. If you make dick, you pay dick. If you make jack shit, you pay jack shit. If you are wealthy (over $250,000), your taxes just went up.

I dislike the characterization that believing in health care reform here in the states means you want health care for free. I do not expect or want that to be the case, I think everyone who can afford it should do the responsible thing and insure themselves. How that happens is an entirely different matter, but we are all in this together and all need to do our fair share.

Doing something about the lack of HC is great!!! It's about time, and is a necessary step in the progression of our species (it runs hand in hand with technology and technology runs hand in hand with us). It shouldn't be for the reason that the U.S. is the wealthiest country. I do not like that statement. As we all know, a lot of greedy politicians and corporations take things from other nations and thus said purpose is always revenue, or money>people.
Don't worry... I won't rant about how evil corporations and government propaganda rule our daily lives, not to mention the Pentagon spending half our budget on war machines...
Taking the necessary steps for universal HC are essential. Not having a choice to except it is unconstitutional. Paying a penalty for not having the choice and refusing to pay for it is unjust taxation without representation. Since the late 40's the Government has been secretive in everything it does. We need transparency! Take organic food... I like knowing where and what I am eating. I want to know where and how the deal was made, where the money comes from, and who benefits the most....everything. We need transparency...
