If you overfeed your plants, and most growers do, then you'll likely need to flush. I do my best not to overfeed and therefore don't need to flush.

I saw this on another site. A guy said that he uses this and never has to flush. Something about the moecules being incomplete and attracts the salt in the system and bonds with it, so the salt really isn't building up around the roots, thus allowing for proper nutrient uptake constantly. Anyone here know of this stuff and'or have used it?

I agree with homebrewer. I have gotten this far without flushing(meaning pouring 3-5 times the size of the container worth of water through it, like the bible says) but I do flush in the sense that I only feed water the last 10 days. Now I have the ability to flush like the bible says so I'm gonna try it out. So far the 2 cheese plants I flushed haven't needed water in 2 days...hope they are ok.

i have run hydro with GH nutrients and always flush. i was out of town and had someone flush for me.. they forgot. trust me it is much tastier smoke and it doesn't crackle when you flush. ALWAYS FLUSH YOUR GIRLSSSS!!!
I grow in coco and harvest in stages - main colas first then a few weeks later mid level and sometimes lower buds too. I never flush the first harvest but always the second and don't really notice a difference. I don't think their is a blanket answer that covers everything. It's like people telling you to dry for 5 days then cure. Hell, if your main cola is the size of a wine bottle and hard as a rock it takes alot longer to dry than a popcorn bud. What matters most is what works best for YOU! Experiment and find what you like.

aaaah Cali? the land of a zillion strains, but not a decent one yet. You Dont have to flush and saying that "anyone who doesnt grow organic and flush is a noob" is funny if anything cos it proves your retarded. There are several top growers that swear by advanced nutrients/addittives and the canna terra range, im talking about BIG growers like BIG buddha. look it up if you dont believe me, stop acting like a cunt now and realise that you dont know fuck all, listen to what the dutch tell you i know i do.

It's all subjective. There are way too many variables to say one way is better than the other. I have stopped the practice of flushing before harvest, and haven't noticed a bit of difference in taste or quality. I will only flush if there appears to be a nute lockout or nute toxicity problem. But it's best not to let it get that bad to begin with.
As for medicating vs. just getting stoned: I disagree.
Getting stoned is a nice side effect, but there really are many who do use cannabis to mitigate side effects of prescription meds, and also to enhance the quality of their life due to various health problems. Not everyone who uses cannabis just wants to get high.
That being said, no one should ever have to worry about legal consequences for wanting to use cannabis, whether for medical or recreational purposes.
Flushing won't cause root rot if your soil drains properly, the soil temperature isn't too low, or if you have a wicking material inserted into your soil to help the moisture move out of the soil in the pots.

Well bud heres the truth. Not flusshing will give you more weed. Your weed will grow the most in the last few weeks so u will get more if u keep the nutes flowing. If u dont flush them thow u will pay because the quality of the buds will b drasticaly different. If u dont flush u will b smoking all those nasty nutes to. Its going to give u head aches and possibly migraine depending how powerful the nutes and wont b as potent. Ul make some dirt weed. PEople that grow for profit want shit loads so they want quanity no matter how bad it hurts the quality. If u flush it wont help that plant or hurt it. It will just make it safer, delicious and stoany for u.

I don't grow dirt weed, and yet I no longer flush.
My herb is not harsh, gives no headaches, doesn't crackle like the 4th of July when lit up, and tastes as pure as burning plant material can taste.
Please.
The few people I've shared my harvests with know it is some of the best they have ever had. And it's been shared with people whom I consider to be far better and far more experienced at growing cannabis than myself.
If flushing works for you, then by all means, flush away.
But it is not a necessary step in all grows.

Mother's Finest told me it's better to flush because by getting N levels way down to zero the plant stops new growth and focuses on finishing existing flowers, also if you fertilize right before you cut, your non ripped bud will pop up screwing the high. As it comes to taste, I believe the dead line is 10 - 14 days of flushing before you cut.
+1 ...Use organic nutes like botanicare and feed them #*&!^@&*^! till you chop em!!! cant tell a difference.

I mean no offence by this and i hope none is taken but for real most of the american population think that EVERYTHING done or made by an american is the best but even you must realise you gota stop putting on this front, REALISE that if you dont end up legalizing mj in america then your gona be a third world country soon, proof that fat food and weed isnt good for all of us. Considering Romania is currently above you in terms of wealth i would be more worried about the economy than flushing. Its attitudes of americans like you why your all hated. If you wasnt so narrow minded you might learn something.
