Never in 5 years of growing a perpetual garden with no days off for full clean out.

Wash and changed clothes and shoes every time i entered.

Wiped down anything i brought in or out of the rooms with iso alcohol or h2o2 consistantly.

And the big one. No outside cuttings or plants allowed.

I never had any bugs at all, just some fungus gnats my first year in the summer. I grow indoors, no tent, open space. This past summer, i started filling my balcony with veggies and flowers..screen door is always closed, but the mj was maybe 15 feet from the patio doors...and since then, 3 grows, white flies have been present, though i haven't actually seen one in over a month now and damage on this grow is greatly reduced since november. I also had some spider mites pop up at the same time, they were still around in this grow early on..never saw them, just the damage they did to lower leaves. I sprayed it again and it's been a month now i don't see any webbing down low and damage hasn't spread since. Once im done the winter grow, end of april...im taking 2 weeks off to clean everything thoroughly, and likely will be swapping my soil out as almost half of it was used on the balcony and im still using it indoors. Luckily only 1 of my plants really suffered, back in august, but that could have been a new kelp mixture i was using that contributed to it staying smaller, but it was damaged alot from the white flies especially!

I got both on the same grow in end of july or august. I also had ants in my place for the first time..and i think they contributed alot to the problem as ants will actually 'farm' mites or whiteflies for their sweet excrement they leave on top of leaves..so ants will protect/harbor the bastards so they can keep getting their sweet shit! Luckily i live in extreme cold in winter, so being -20C right now helps lol.

where i live most people get infested during winter time as they try to go dormant in warm cracks, indoor ect. I dont think mites excrete sugar, not sure though. White flies & aphids for damn sure do though.

As long as its not russets im all g haha

im not a big connaisseur on bugs..maybe i had aphids not mites..whiteflies for sure lol. But that's what tipped me off...was the damn shiny/sticky residue on my leaves..at first i disregarded it, but then it bugged me too much and that's when i found them. I thought only whiteflies at first as they were flying out when i shook the plants...but when i harvested one of them..is when i saw tiny little webs down low in the crevice between the main stem and branches..as they cross, they leave a small web, and that got me nervous! lol I also saw ants crawling on the plants..not many, but they never did that before..investigating the ants and why they were there, led me to see the aphids or whatever they were.
