So far I have...

Kapton tape 1mil by 1/2"
Artic 11 pc cooler
Prolimatek p3 thermal paste
Getting closer, my cxb3070's are on the way from China and jerry said he'll throw a couple holders in for me for free and maybe 2 reflectors. So far his customer service is excellent. What else do I need guys? I have an idea but want some input, Thx

Can someone enlighten me about possible custom charges with shipments from Kingbrite?
Someone just told me I will likely have to pay customs as well..now I am pissed.

On the bill from Jerry it said $40 for "DHL shipping" but he actually shipped the 4 LEDs with TNT. Cost incl. shipping and paypal fee was $265

My question is how TNT does that. They say they invoice you for custom fees (which they already paid), so does that mean they send a letter with the invoice and only after paying the invoice they deliver the package?
(I am confused since some say there is only fees when you order for more than $2000?)
Anyone have experience with ordering from KB with TNT shipping, preferrably someone ordering from Europe?

Edit: I have no idea how much value Jerry declared for the package

I'm interested in the breakdown of fees as well (more so for US). If anyone has information to share, please do, as I'm sure many of us are about to pull the trigger.

In the USA anything over $2000 there's import tax. I'm expecting some more cobs the CXA/2 5600k BB bin and my HLG -240H -C1400A on Thursday 31st.

Thanks Real, hope to hear back from you after you receive your new payload. Most people have been happy with Jerry, I just want to make sure I'm factoring all costs into my purchase before pulling the trigger. There appears to be only two possible sellers, Jerry and Cutter.

For sure, didn't mean to suggest PLC isn't well-priced but their stock is limited. I doubt GG has the purchasing power of these larger companies so I doubt he'll be carrying a wide array. Of course, this is conjecture.

It's all good man. PLC makes lights.
But...I'll match either of their prices on 3070's or 3590's. And beat the standard shipping in the US. Our straight up to anyone prices were better to the door, and that was our goal. Prices were already coming down this next shipment anyways. Components are not my priority...I just know that most of what I use(3070 bb's) are not easily obtained by anyone for while. They weren't even in production till we requested them. There is a reason we are bringing in a ton of 3590's...and it has nothing to do with being a component supplier. We went through 300 3070 last month for DIY'er as a trial...more than KB by a good amount from what I counted. Have 600 3070's coming in just for DIY crew on the 10th. Plus what I use for PLC(another 1800 per batch so far). We're good on our buying power. And give discounts to many people for many reasons, mainly bulk(I don't want sob stories please)...1$ per 20 3070's is standard no questions asked...people that asked about bulk know. at least that. But just so people know...20 isn't a bulk buy in the real world for companies like cree or bridgelux or the suppliers/distributors and the suppliers/distributors(mark, jerry, me, anyone) aren't getting any breaks at that count or even 10X it.

I respect contributing RIU member, and don't think that a google search bringing someone to the forum for the first time should get true RIU member discount. Call it unfair, profiling, or whatever. That is what mark and jerry are for if that doesn't fly with people. But if you are legit, a contributor and/or know me, you know I hook things up.

Again...not our priority, but are glad to help when we can.

How is Jerry declaring, say, a small shipment with just 4x LEDs? I really don't want to pay customs/fees, NOT because of the fee itself but because that crap will likely delay how long it takes til I have the lights. I hope its declared as gift or at a value where there is no customs charges. Sigh.

I've ordered twice first was a 10 piece 2nd time was 16 pieces no problem at all both arrived within 5 days of paying.... No custom fees or anything.... I would be open to ordering somewhere else that was trusted and cheaper but for now kingbrite will getting my business

Hey @Greengenes707 ,

Thanks for the reply. My apologies, I thought your operation was smaller than that. If you can truly get the COBs to us within a few bucks per, I'd be happy to throw my money into you and your business. Do you know when you expect the 3590s? I'd like to pick up a few in different spectra (3500, 4000, 5000) but even if you aren't getting a blended spectrum of COBs, I'd be happy to purchase your 3500s.

I presume you'll only be purchasing top bin?

What carrier did he use, DHL, TNT, FedEx? Anyone got shipment from TNT (like he did with mine) and didn't have to pay any customs?
