White styrofoam plates or bowls dont block light!!

Not trying to cut up on anyone here, just trying to help others. I replaced my light shields with white styrofoam bowls as Ive seen done on here and now I have hella algae. Use something that you can hold up to the light and dont see any light or glow coming through whatever you use.

Exactly! Whatever you use, hold it up to the grow light and make sure it completely blocks the light...nice post!
 
Something I've discovered that makes a good netpot cover - I don't know what they are called but the round rubber discs that you use as a stopper over a flat drain. They are 5-6 inches in diameter and kind of a heavy rubber that lays flat and hugs the surface. Plus, they are easy to cut a slot and inner circle with ordinary scissors.

Thats a great idea. Maybe they have em at the dollar store.
