i'm looking at converting to Ebb 'N Flow about 14 or so days from now in my flower room. I'm thinking about laying down some boards and making 'boxes' on the floor for (2) 5' by 10' gulleys... and then filling those with perlite... maybe 7" inches high. I was thinking of transplanting directly into the perlite by popping the (primarily sphagnum) 16 oz. clones directly into the gulleys w/o any sort of containers. Then flooding the gulleys to a depth of 5" or 6" inches. The gulleys would be right on the floor... and the rez would be under the house. I'd be using G.H. Flora Micro and Flora Bloom. Any feedback or suggestions on this proposition would be appreciated. Do you have any trouble keeping the perlite out of yer rez? Do you use screens or filters?

I love my Ebb & Flow! So simple. I bought a good timer at home depo, wal-mart, target that allowed me to water 6X when light was on, zero after lights off, and it worked perfect.
If your going to use Perlite, make sure its the large chunky Perlite, like Fox Farm's. That is what I used. Easy to wash and clean and resuse!
So no Large Chunky Perlite in the rez, but make sure when working with Perlite out of the bag since its dry, wear a mask, very bad for your lungs from what I have researched, so wear a mask, and take a large screen bowl, and wash it over your sink, the put on table.
No special screens needed for you setup. I would not flood more then 3-4 inches. you want those roots to expand and grow down to the flood lever! I would say the first quater inch or too of you roots need to be a little more dry, from my research, the roots bring in air. So its good. Not to mention perlite has a little wicking properties, so the will me moist, but very little, just enough for roots, to keep growing!
Its going to be nice with your rez below ground, you could grow taller in a smaller space then I was. If your not, and you just want small ones, then straing clone them and stick em in there. But if you are going bigger and perpetual, I would build 2 idintical setups and use one for a 2-4 week veg/mom room!

thier din well on thier way , waiting on these 30 plants now to finish. even with ozone dank ass house,lol., i saw mary janes purple wreck and i do say its incredable,glad i got extra pac an and settup the breeding room for these 5 strains and crosses with my moonshine., thanx kenj i found it,lol, very pro,kenji are you doin a journal yet ?......, with a little more room and a couple more lights dk you could go full scale.Say DK you use RO water? mine ph is rite at 6.5 with flowering nutes it shifts to 5.5 which incredable without adjustment.water is everything.later bro.

Plain old tap water thats 8.0 & 300-400PPM! I use House & Garden and there very stable on PH!
