What do people find better to germinate soak in water till seed sinks then put into tissue or put tissue on plate put seeds in tissue put another piece on top wet tissue and put in dark place ??

The technique i use:
Get one plate, put a paper towel on it, seeds on top of that, wet the towel through, put another paper towel on top, then another plate, upside down, then place in humid place.
Pretty much the same as one that your describing. Never tried the first technique

as cravetherave says.. on a plate. i also havent done the glass thing, ' never failed to germ a fem with a tissue'..hahaha

not sure. wet paper towel on a saucer,seed,wet paper towel on top, inverted same plate on top of said items...foolproof!!

i have also used toe drop in water technique, but i only put like a cm. of water at the bottome...they werent floating, and again...on top of my refrigerator she went...cant say for certain germ. time, but i dont think it was as quickly as paper towel otherwise i would have stuck with it.

Soil or soiless for example is just a matter of planting your seed into the wet soil/soiless medium and waiting.
Rockwool i pre soak the rockwool and pre soak the seed for around 6hours then plant the seed into it.
All this waiting for a taproot etc means you need to be as clean as a surgeon would be otherwise you risk infection, breaking etc.
Just plant it, light it up with a small CFL or flouro and wait. It really aint that hard.

i have had 100% success rate with the paper towel method, of course i am only on my 3rd. grow...just sayin it works for me, and i will continue to do so...although my very first grow was just tossin a seed in a cup of dirt...took a week to pop instead of 3 days with my paper towel method.

if conditions are right my way takes 3days, i too have had 100% with my way, i have tried lots of ways, and find the 2ways i said fool proof, you will at some point run into a problem by waiting for taproots etc, they can dehydrate because you're late checking on them , they can break when touched to roughly, nicotine on your hands can hurt them .....
All im saying is open your mind to other ways and then make an educated decision as to which you find easiest, once throwing a seed into a cup of dirt isnt counted, i have tried all methods a few times to see for sure.

i fill a shot glass with water, pop the seed in and put it in a dark place for 24 hours!
after that the seed should sink, if it hasnt, then dont worry, its still fine...
after that i put in a rock wool cube and keep it soaked until the sprout is about 3 inch, then i plant in soil!
never had a seed fail on me yet!!

They won't suffocate if you leave some air in the bag like a slightly inflated balloon. The seeds are usually in there less than 3 days. If your RH is low, the ziptop back helps maintain humidity like a dome. I've done it on all my seeds and haven't had a problem.

Ok ok will consider that ive just put two in wet towels for nw im going to try ova methods with the others has anyone had coloured seeds b4??

Yes from greenhouse seeds its so you dont forget which is which, but after soaking the colour is no longer there.
