My vote is GDP as I'm currently working with Grandoggy Purps from Connoseur genetics, just a similar interest I suppose? I agree though, can't tell which one to keep till you crack it and try it. Good thing is though, with freebies and fems, if you don't like the one you pick for a keeper you can run a new bean next to your clone and still have something familiar while you look for the one you DO want to keep.
I've kept mothers in the past and what I've found is that I prefer a bit of variety too much to keep any one around. There are mothers that I wish I had back (a dark purple GRAPEY Cheese Quake from TGA is the most recent that comes to mind) but honestly I wouldn't have room for all the new flavors I'm interested in if she was still around.
The only time that I DO keep a mother for one or two more runs is when I'm cracking regular seeds, and it's taken some time and space to narrow down to THE ONE out of the pack. Other than that, I run a fem bean and consider it a fond memory and move on
In this instance, I also don't keep the mother. I put the full bush into flower and just keep the clone around so as to keep a fresh plant around and not take up too much space with a big mom. This is how I lost the Cheese Quake as the clone died, but oh well?
