Question..
if you have a choice to grow in a 12ft by 13ft basement room OR the closet within the basement room which is 8ft long by 4 feet wide by 8 ft high...which one? Isn't it easier to control things in the closet? sometimes too many options suck. Have a dehumidifier..AND an exhaust line fan..and 400w MH/HPS.
DWC grow..18 gallon reservoirs..4 plants is all.
 
Personally as someone who has to do a little rubbermaid grow, I'd love to have a larger space as heat becomes an issue in smaller spaces (yes, even with CFL's). I'd go w/the larger space but it also depends on how many plants you plan to grow. I can create optimum conditions in my rubbermaid set up for 1 plant only (due to temps rising too much if I use more than four 23-watt lights), so I'd recommend that you decide how many plants you want to grow, choose your lighting system and make your decision based upon the equipment you'll be using. I want to grow 3 plants at a time, but my set up won't allow it, so you really need to make this choice based upon your lights/ventilation/temperature control needs.
 
I too use rubbermaid..2 of them..but isn't it too difficult to control quality lighting with a space that big?
 
I use 400w mh/hps....but it's so damn hot here in the northeast..it's a struggle..grow in basement and windows are sealed up..have the exhaust line set up (in closet actually)..i can't for the life of me figure out how to get cool air in that damn basement. Have central air but that doesn't do squat for the basement.
 
oh...i use mylar too..but that would be an awful lot of mylar for a 12ft by 13 ft room. I've researched until my eyes are crossed
 
start small. get it right then grow into the full basement.

Is this your 1st grow? what is your budget?
 
I would love to have this problem. You can always start small and expand? Once you choose say the smaller option (the closet) does the larger option vanish from you for some reason? If not, Start small and expand larger if need be?
 
3rd grow actually..budget? well..I've already purchased lighting..exhaust system...ductwork...and technoflora...first grow was cfl..
 
got lighting...400w mh and hps..several air pumps...timers..all that stuff. I thought maybe the larger room would help cool things down (last grow was a b..tch..and it ended up being all MALE) that was painful. only grow 4 plants at a time in 2 DWC reservoirs. 2 per bin.
 
too much space = too much to manage don't you think? freakin mites and crap..spider webs..all that stuff to deal with in the large room..

i grow in a closet with the same dimensions as wat u mentioned,,is it upstairs? ie with attick above?? if so i mounted my extractor above the hps and mounted it in the attick thru the celing coz heat rises! i got a 12 inch oscelating fan and run 600 hps walls are painted white for relection
no heat issues i ran 1k in ther not a problem
 
i wish it was upstairs..downstairs in the basement..i have several fans...two oscillating..but i can't bring cool air in the room....windows are sealed up and blacked out..it's not the lights that cause heat..the damn dehumidifier does but a guru told me to use a cardboard box and build an exhaust for the dehumidifier..take ductwork and shoot it out of the room..and MUCH THANKS FOR RESPONDING
 
CORRECTION..yes the 400w hps/mh cause heat but that's not the issue. I had things in the closet..but the dehumidifier wouldn't fit in the damn space so i had it right outside the closet in in the larger room..but damn that thing heated up the whole room (even though I have an inline exhaust hooked up in the closet)
