Hey guys i need your help i have 50W chip and i need any active heatsink(i guess normal heatsink for CPU). But i dont know how efficiency heasink i need i was looking ebay and some chinese shop and i thought if somethink like this would be enought for keep it at least 18 hours http://www.dx.com/p/professional-cpu-heatsink-cooler-cooling-fan-silver-126182#.VAY66npvG5g or please tell me any which exactly you would choose. Important is efficiency/quite/price . Thank you

Well but 100W CPU. I thought that i big different between 100W CPU and 100W LED - I am i wrong and its same ?

A watt is a measurement of heat dissipation........I use these at 60 watts and they work great.

A watt is a watt is true, I won't bring up our countless discussions on that:P............but your right in a certain context as SDS pointed out before in his thread; A cpu's heat dissipation needs vers led/cobs is different. Regardless, it's always a good idea to "over-build" on the cooling rather than to follow a general cpu watt rating====== no fried eggs grower:fire:

Leds are a constant load (100%) for the Heatsink over a long time, 12 to 20 hours.
CPUs normally run not on full Power, 40-60% is here the workload weighted over time.
full power can be seen by numbercrunching or videorendering.
for CPU cooler simple half the given heat dissipation.

would these LEDs actually burn themselves out or what?
i ran a 20w UV LED with heatsink/fan in a plastic tub thing and the fan stopped working - but, the LED was fine. ran it on and on still.. would a 30w - 50w actually die or would it just get unmanageably hot running for an extended time with no heatsink?
in a weed grow you could harness the extra heat.
i want to know because of the difference in price and loudness of a CPU cooler vs a north bridge cooler like the one that shipped from china with my 20w LED. it was quieter, but broke and i dunno about it's ability with like this 50w i have right here.. it gets very hot very quickly like a CPU... also - you can grab emitters for like $3, but a big fan doubles that...
one idea i have is to use 100w IR lights outside!! totally invisible, but keeping some lights going into the night.. in that case though again - what is really needed as far as heatsink/fan??
