as many Luminus cxm22 as you can fit, run as low as u can. if you have a 3x3, use 6, if 2x2, use 4, if 5x5 use 10,

If you want even more, run the strips on the outter edge,

a 3x3 area, with 6 Luminus 22's, and 4 strips, would be around 400watts nicely layed out blanket of light, ran pretty soft, probably round 900par at 18inch.

Im using 4 of these, and I love them, and thats in a 3x4ish area. But looking to rebuild my setup to accommodate strips and 2 more cobs.

How many Kelvins are in your Leds?

Best is a subjective term.

Bridgelux Vero 'SE' line are nice because they have poke in connections making it easy to swap them in and out for example. They also publish performance numbers and have handy spreadsheets.
