Which approach will win?

This dude going to show us his 100 cuts in his 5x5 or nah?
It can be done if they’re in solo cups. There’s around 70 in this pic with room to spare. 100 would be crowded but doable. My table is 5x5. I’m guessing dude doesn’t actually have them though. 26E6E869-03E7-4235-94EE-603A76272D66.jpeg

Well I don't understand why you are kind of judgemental in your comment.
First of all I would get the best lights that I need and how much I need for the space required and for that matter the right equipment from ac to c02 and invest accordingly.
I would do so without worry because I know in advance what something will bring me in profits.
The margins in this business are so huge.
People in traditional markets would kill for the returns on investment that we can make in the weed business.
I have a feeling you just took highlights out of my comments . Without properly reading all the text.
Because you are missing my point entirely.
I dont even understand the 5x5 comment you made.
I took the liberty to take a peak at your profile .
And noticed that you just started growing a year ago.
I am growing for the good part of 20 years now.
What's hard to believe that a good seasoned grower . Could have the ability to get the most out of high ppfd lights.
The lights I am talking about are higher ppfd than the Chinese ones . This is not my personal opinion as these are tested by independent sources. See migro for example.
Sure the chinese lights and other grow lights grow killer weed and great yields too.
Nobody is dissing them.
Why do you type like that?

The ppfd numbers for my china lights matched the ppfd numbers for my neighbours gavita 1700’s when ran with a apogee

You’re basically talking out your ass at this point.

A quality light being outmoded doesn't make a bad light it's still a quality unit.

I'm not fussy about the brand so long as it's Samsung boards and meanwell drivers.

Now that I've seen how simple they are I'd seriously consider a diy build.

I didn't even know I had a profile, but I started growing well over a year ago. I started with led not so long ago tho so I'm still a freshie there.

The light.. Not lights... Light you're referring to is estimated at 6 inches from measuring point.
The geekbeast is measured at 12 inches I think. So not as much in it.

The spread from the geekbeast is better than the thinkgrow

So which will grow the better canopy and yield more? The thinkgrow, just because it's hotter in the middle? Is that the only variable you consider when judging a good light?

You've been growing for 20 years. Even spread should matter to you. It does to me.

And besides all that, why are we using only the one light as a reference point?

Isn't this thread about Chinese (cheaper) Vs Local (expensive)

A lot of those expensive lights finished below the geekbeast in Shane's charts. So why have you omitted them to focus on the only one (I think) which is above it?

Ok let's break this down..
You've got $2k of LED money burning a deep red hole in your pocket. You can get 1 "top end" light for that money and start saving for your next one. You do a grow with it and get 1.5gpw. After your first grow you invest in another, or maybe two. Then after the second you get a fourth to fill in your space.

Some other guy who doesn't hate the Chinese, buys 4 lights for the same money straight away and does the same amount x 4. Then does the same the next run. And the next.

All four of his Chinese lights go Kaput after just one year. All of them... KAPUT...

He can replace them all at the same cost and it will still take years to catch up with the odd 100g off each light

There are more variables to this than you're letting on bud, and not everyone is just filling a 5x5 space
I could build four lights of better quality than many knockoffs for $2k. If anything "goes kaput" I only replace parts.

But you did not know in advance that they would match the gavita in ppfd number.
You did not know this.
Because they are not reputed and tested by independent sources. And then published in trustworthy publications.
You had to test them yourself with an apogee and was lucky.

The trustworthy brand names (gavita, luxx, thinkgrow, scynce etc etc) you know in advance what you get.

So you are actually making my point why would I cheapskate to save $700 a light .
When my lights pay for themselves in a single harvest.

By the way just out of curiosity.
Which lights do you have that match the gavita par number.
I would love to see a link so I can learn something new myself.
FUCK Gavita! They are owned by Scotts Miracle Gro now. Round-up pushing motherfuckers..

Holy fuck man. Shane is a light salesman

give it a rest already
Are you disputing the numbers that he publishes?
Well you did the par measurements for the gavita led.
Maybe you can publish your par measurements for the gavita here.
So we can compare them with migros .
And know how much a fraud he is :)

Plus they are overpriced trash imo. My Meijiu are actually finished and built nicer then my neighbours gavita believe it or not.
You got a post where you disassembled both lights for a component and fit and finish comparison? China is good at polishing turds  Fake Oakleys look exactly the same, until you touch them and they explode.

Yup, my house has exploded several times over the last 4 years I’ve been using shitty china lights

You dont believe the fact that its possible?
Because another member just posted a picture that its possible.
Or you dont believe me because I am saying outlandish things in your opinion that could never be true ?
He posted 70 fresh cuts in solo cups

I’ll await your pics to confirm

Shane has presented wrong or misleading numbers more than once. He isn't some Golden God of ppfd measurements.
