wheres the hps + led club?

600whps hortilux + 300w growbright led=awesome

88,000(.1-.15)= 8,800-13,200 usable hps lumens + 300w(45lumens/watt)=13,500 usable led lumens... a range of 22300-26700 lumens. half lumens=high intensity and half lumens=full spectrum. you cant get that with just an hps.. this is the club people should be joining. its almost 2011. led is the future.

Ill jump aboard when I see some serious donkey shlongs grown off LED's, until the technology is up to PAR(lumens, lux whatever) I'm stickin with HPS for flowers because I get this out of 1 bulb.

He's not saying LED's are better than HPS, he's saying using HPS plus LED is the future, I think

bump. anyone done anything like this? a set up like this before? i didnt specify what my numbers units are... sorry, but they are-- 88,000lumens x .1-.15 because only 10%-15% of high pressure sodium lumens are usable to a plant. this gives the range of potential usable lumens for the hps. the led which is 100% usable by the plant consists of 300 1 watt led lights. there are ACTUALLY about 20 lumens in 1 watt of led (not sure but found more sources directing me to believe this). 20x300= the number of usable lumens for the plant through led.

leds are a joke if u dont know anything about leds... anyone who says that led is a joke is most likely one of the people who bought an led lamp to be cool and try out the "new" stuff before doing any research.. ive talked to many led haters who said they vegged perfectly but then produced hardly any buds.. well this is due to the nanometers in of the output spectrum.. flowers need a minimum of 650 nm in the red spectrum in order to induce flowering. my 300w $700 led light max's at 660.. it does amazing during veg-hardly any stretch at all. alongside a 600w hortilux hps during flowering, there isnt anything better

there are reasons why led+hps is better than an hps alone.. simply the fact that you can put the led 1-2 inches above your plants, giving them maximum light penetration. this will penetrate resin glands even deeper than an hps, which will bring out the natural thc oils much more than normally. although there is more penetration, there is still not as much intensity as the hps. the hortilux giving a spectrum of up to 780 nm promotes the flowers to get bigger because it is much more intense... penetration=intensity x wavelength

basically im saying
hps=bigger flowers
led=dank flowers

im about to finish mine up with 300w LED/600w HPS in 6x2 space. 6 lowryders. ill post them here and show u how amazing they will look :)
hps is just so hot/brutal on the plants.. led is a smooth/cooler & more natural way.

LED + HPS represent. Running 810w LED and 400w HPS currently. I'd like to upgrade to a 600-1000w HPS soon, But I love the mixed spectrum from the two lighting sources!!!

led's are a JOKE
So is reading comprehension in America.

I had thought about doing this but decided on combining my 600w hps with 400w mh for flowering when I upgrade in a few weeks. If this is a better way to go I'd much rather go with an HPS/LED combination than LED/MH combo to avoid buying ballast, hood, fan, etc.

yeah dont even waste ur time with mh these days.. hps technology is so good nowadays that u dont really even need to spend money on an extra mh bulb.. just get a hortilux.. although LED WILL increase ur veg growth a LOT more. LED plus HPS kicks ass dude, go for it.. just make sure ur LED isnt shitty.. do lots of research on its spectrum

I use a 300w led for flowering and I love it. I also have a 120w led I use for veg but might move it to the flowering side. Either that or move some T5's into the flowering room. I love my Led and am thinking of the 600w stealth grow next. Or that new one featured in skunk, high times etc. Hydro grow or something the 60degree lens one. Still more research needed before next purchase but LED's are great depending on which one you get. People that bash them either bought cheap ones or never used them but of course a "friend" told them

I love how anytime someone mentions LED there are always a bunch of people with like 5 posts trashing it. Look around. LED's are growing plants on this very same site.

I was thinking of vegging with 2 GlowPanel 45s and adding one to my 600w HPS in the flower room. I know pretty much close to nothing about LED's. I know I don't want to use them by themselves for flowering but it might be a more efficient way to add supplemental lighting when I get a bigger space in 2 weeks.

I'll probably try an HPS/LED combo instead of MH

Most people here know next to nothing about LED's here (including me) but there is always a steady line of people to trash them.

It's easy to ignore the people who trash them, I used to trash Fords and now we have one, lol...I still own my Toyota

More than likely I'm going to go with dual GlowPanel 45s + 200w cfl for my veg tent and add a GlowPanel 45 to my 600w hps for flowering. It will cost me less than $400 for 3 GlowPanel 45s versus $525 for everything I need to run a 400w (ballast, bulb, hood, bigger inline fan, clamps, ducting) plus the monthly bill to run one

The only thing I know about LED's right now is that I have one. A 300w from HTG supply, and it was amazing for vegg. Had 10 clones that I put under it, and they went from weak clones to massive 2.5' bushes in 38days. Probably should have started flowering them sooner due to space. I double topped in the beginning of vegg and lollipoped for flower. Their under one of my hps's now. I do plan on using my LED for flowering as soon as I harvest my current plants and make room in a couple weeks. Currently, I would buy more LEDs just for vegging, but I will see how they do in flower soon enough. If you wanna check out my grow

300w is a lot more than what I was thinking of using.

Any idea if dual GlowPanel 45s will cover a 2' x 4' (5'H) for vegging only?

yeah that would do well. you would get hardly any stretch but just not as fat of plants compared to what a 300w gives you. but if you're going for low cost, this seems like the way to go. has a nice spectrum.

I love led lighting. For veg I prefer T5 lights. I find most people that bash led lights either never used them or have never even seen one. They just spout off what they heard from someone and usually that person also knows nothing. I did months of research before investing and my results with my 300w kicks the harvest of my 400w my 120wled is similar yield to my 400w hps. So are led lights good yes they are. They are expensive but the electrical bill will end up paying for it. Technology is getting better and the more people that use led will lead to more refinement of the technology. That being said those that bash led lights now will they say thank you to us for leading the way?
