after i get some more seeds i am going to move my grow space into a 8ftx1 1/2ft closet about 8ft deep. right now im in a really small closet with only 2 regualr house 75w light bulbs on em. im on a tight budget and im looking for the cheapest solution to getting enough light so they dont get all stretched out. any suggestions on types f lights i can buy at a store for cheap. and what would i need to be sufficient in that size of space.

I was worried @ the surge in electricity and the heat generated by hps/ MH lighting so I found LED lights to be a good soultion for me. The website is LEDgrowlights.com. The set-up I brought is 24 watts. I know that sound low compared to the 400/600 & 1000 watt set-ups, But you get pure UVA & UVB light. It cost $279.00 and comes with Lighting Track, 2 Red bulbs & 1 Blue.
It might still sound a little pricey but they generate almost no heat ( can touch with bare hand) and has not increased my electricity bill. So far the results are prety inpressive to me. Started from seed 4/15 and they are now 12 inches. One thing thay tell you that you need to buy a kit if you want to suspend the lights(necessary for adjusting) I made my one with a 2 foot table leg purchased at lowe's @ 3.00 and some old bicycle chain and 3 hooks.

for a small grow cfls are a good way to go. but if you grow over 4 plants you may as well go ahead and dish out just a bit more cash and get a proper lighting system. im using cfls and its goin good.

I see 2 real options for that space, one you could go with 4 florescent lights, home made to fit the space. You can buy plastic tubes that you put the 4 lights in. they are for shops or any place where the light might get busted the plastic tubes contain the glass and stuff. The reason I mention them is that you can grow weed touching, absolutely growing all around the tube no problem, so you could rap the space in lights. I would give that some serious thought.
Its real tight for a vertical grow i would say it's not an real option. I believe, The best light coverage you could get for your space is 3 or maybe even 4, 250w HPS. If it were me I would buy 3 250 watt HPS and decide if I need the 4th after I set the 3 up. Air cools hoods all strung together are the way to go in that space. but its not necessary, if you maintain a good air flow open is fine. Anyway thats my 2 cents.
