Where to buy diy cob

Not sure there's a best place to buy a kit. The COBs in that ad aren't very good, fans cheap, driver cheap, bad deal.

Why not just order the components from electronics websites?

Jerry Kingbrite.

Cree CXA/B series or Vero.
For the driver, use meanwell and find the right one..
Don't bother getting anything else.
I'd advise to bother getting a heatsink at least and possibly a fan :)

If you use Cree CXA/B's you'll have to get a holder too.
You're also gonna need some wire, terminals, plugs, these kind of things. These could usually be sourced locally.

I'm in the midst of my first DiY light, a scaled down, primitive version of the Battlestar Ganjatica. Since it's my first attempt, I didn't stress over getting top bin COBs. I ordered most of the components online - COBs, drivers, CPU coolers, DC power supply and COB holders. The aluminium for frame, wire, screws, eye hooks for hanging, assorted connectors and all came from local hardware stores, thermal paste from a place selling PC parts. There are other online venues, if you know the specific part you're looking for, it's easy to find online.

Instead of a pre-made kit, I'd recommend starting with Gaius' Ganjatica plans. He lists everything you need (and where you can order it from, pretty much where I went), the only issue I've had so far was puzzling out how to wire all the DC power to all those tiny wires on the fans, but everything else has been pretty straightforward so far.

Bonjour
I agree with them...build your own light it is easy when well prepared!
And you can find everything you need to know and more around here!
I only saw great result from people who use to have normal to good results before switching to cob and never heard complain about cxa/b or Vero's...
Have a great day ★

For the wires i took double wago to connect them.It is clean and fast.
And for my 4 fans i took wago 5 holes.
This way i have the wagos on the sinks and link it together with my wires! So i have 4 wago on each pannel...i don't know if you know what I mean!?! Easier way for me.
Have a great day ★
