where do I get a carbon filter?

You can order express or drive to the nearest hydro shop and buy one. I dont think you really have many other options unless you make a temporary carbon filter, you can buy carbon at most pet stores. I cant guarantee how effective they are though.

Theres all kinds of ways to make a filter with pet store carbon. I've seen coffee cans with some wire screen to keep the carbon in.

Just be creative, all carbon filters work on the same very basic principals. Pulling odor contaminated air though the carbon pellets.

Actually these 2 work great together. Making the bags helps hold the carbon in, but if it was me I would get some better screen material, and some Honeywell prefilter pads and just fill the coffee can with carbon pellets. That way the carbon will settle in all the corners and the air will be forced through the carbon and not around the bags.
