They used to grow alot of outdoor bud down in Myakka city, on the river. Other than that, up in Ocala National forest is a hot spot. Any old heads remember Gainsville Green??It was a FAMOUS strain grown in the Gainsville/Ocala area. They use to sell it at the truck stops in Wildwood Fl, the truckers called it wildweed back in the day!

Hell yeah Wheeze, you ever grown from an innertube? Anchor that bitch in a swamp/river/estuary and the roots grow into the water, it's pretty sweet. I'm not old but I have heard my dad mention "The Gainsville Green". Supposedly a few seeds I have are from the original Myakka Gold strain.

Stay away from Broward, drive around the Okeechobee area and look for open wooded areas near swamps. You have to get off the main roads b/c there aren't enough discreet places to park. Watch for gators, in fact look for gators and plant near there...keeps the rippers away.

Oh, and you can find all kinds of great supplies at the Ft. Lauderdale Swap Shop!.

Edit: There are some good spots in western Palm Beach Co as well

I was just looking near lake okeechobee on google maps. There seems like some good spots over there. I drove to a place in western palm beach the other day, JW corbett center and it was all swamps.

No my friend, you have to go east of there...like Hwy 880 west of 441 or near Lantana by the Bellagio. There are dirt roads in those areas for agriculture and such.

If you absolutely must stay in Broward, plant a few here and there in every state park you can find.

Then scratch the PM I sent. Go straight up 441 and start taking side roads near Boyton Beach Blvd. I used to work in that area, lots of farms etc south of Wellington.

Good luck!

As a yankee, I feel privledged to know I've had Micanopy Madness, which I've been told both that it is and is not Gainsville Green. Regardless, it was some top notch smoke and I wish I had the genetics now.

I'm pretty sure some of the founders of Overgrow are from the Gainsville area and apart from them I got to know several old school growers in N Florida. They told me stories of grows that were interesting to say the least. Like growing in hollow fallen cypress stumps under the swamp canopy. You would never think it got enough light, but they swear the plants grew like monsters and the grows were totally stealth. They filled the stump with peat, which acted like a wick and moved swamp water to the plants roots. They never fed them or even checked on the plants until it was harvest time.

Sorry, I know it's not south Florida, but it is my only Florida story and I don't get to tell it often....

I've sampled some Myakka Gold indoor but it doesn't compare to the buds grown in a river by the real Sun. The true Myakka Gold is one of my favorite strains. All-around all day smoke. The seeds I have are from some Caribbean landrace or something 'cause the bud I got the seeds out of tastes like straight carrots and celery. Rooty-tooty. I wonder what pheno I'll get.
