Usually go to the city (Edmonton) and play cash games. 1/2 or 5/10 Hold'em or Omaha. Omaha in live cash games is a fuckin rush man. Pots over $5000 fairly often.
I have had some baaaaad beats, but I had a few that went in my favor when I had no idea how to play the game earlier on. Raped a dude for $2400 pot.
I was inexperienced, frustrated with handing over my cash. I went out to the car, got just friggin blasted and went back in. I can't even remember the hand layout. It was Dealer's Choice, so the game was Omaha. I ended catching a deuce on the river, ended up with a full house deuces over something, buddy had 2 aces and 2 jacks (I think) and all I remember was the look on the dude's face, then him wiggin out and leaving. It was a trip man, especially being so fucking high.
Now that I have a good handle on the game, I realize how stupid I was and why the guy was so pissed. It sucks when it happens to you.
Not big on the internet poker. I had a bullshit experience with Absolute Poker. I think I only had about 150$ or so in my account, but one day I went to login, got a message saying I needed to contact support, becuase they needed to verify my Visa number. Why, I had been a member for about a year and deposited money a couple times....why now?
OK, whatever, so I phoned the support phone number. 45 minutes go by waiting. So I hang up and try the next day. Same thing. 45 minutes or an hour go by on hold. Now I'm getting choked.
So I send an email. I get a reply telling me to contact them and speak to an agent. Bascially got bounced around, and bullshitted for 3 days or so. I never got an answer to why they needed to "protect me" by verifying my credit info. I know why, so they could fuck me for money. I finally just gave up....they still have my money.
Then I recently saw a documentary on a few major poker pros, and after seeing 3 or 4 dudes sitting side by side in the same room, logged into the same poker room online, and hustling people for THOUSANDS of dollars.......I stay the hell away from it myself.
I am going to try and start making poker a bigger part of my life. What better legal way to make money. Not many I can think of.
