Topping is a trick all flower gardeners use--it makes for FAT many-stalked flowers. Works the same for MJ. Doesnt matter when you do it, but I generally do it at about six inches. Then when my NEW shoots emerge, I top them when theyare about 4-6 inches, too. Gives you a huge wide bushy plant.
However, whether or not you actually get MORE total finishedd bud weight at harvest, Im still not sure. In other words, you might top the hell out of one clone and get hundreds of SMALL buds, while NOT TOPping another clone which then produses five or six HUGE buds....theyn you weight each plants total bud production and they're pretty much the same. In other words, IMO, a plants production has more to do with that plant's genetics than whether or not we TOP, FIM or leave them alone. Now, a NON topped plant takes up much less room, allowing you to put more plants under your light. In other words, you can have two big wide super-topped multi-small colas, OR say, four taller, skinner, NOT topped plants in the same grow space, right? And the two tall skinnys MAY be genetically more prolific.
Peope always ask, "how MANY plants can I have?" The answer is, IT DOESNT MATTER, A dozen one foot tall plants under a 600w. OR TWO four footers will produce about the same total weight at harvest. It's the LIGHT, NOT the number of plants, see? The advantage to a lot of small plants is, less veg time. The advantage to fewer BIGGER plants is, easier to
c are for a few than a bunch, plus, god forbid you have a visit from LEO, they SOUND better when they say, "WE seized a doz plants" Saying, "we seized TWO plants"....aint too impressive. The FEWER plants you have, theLESS severe the "crime" Stupid, I know, but that's how it is.
Biggest single plant I ever grew was in a five gal, hempy, five feet tall and TOPPED to the max. LOL! Sucker gave me 12 dry oz. On the other hand, Ive done lotsa 12 plant grows....averaging about an oz each. 12 oz is 12 oz....because that's about what to expect from one 600 w. HPS. The NUMBER of plants is irrelevant.
...these plants vegged for 26days...one flowered for 56days the other for 60
....the scrawny ones an auto bubbleicious...she's had a rough life...she sat on the outskirts of the light for most of it....just stared coming around the last couple weeks
