When to switch to flowring nutes? DWC Sunflower

Its been a few weeks now, my sunflowers stand about 2ft tall now and are growing more every day, leaning more away from leaf growth into vertical growth. When should I switch over to my bloom nutes in my DWC - anyone know? Thanks :)

I'm not sure with this plant, but once it startes to flower I would wait a week and keep on a veg nut for a week and then then next week change to a bloom nute. Has it started to flower yet?

Nothing resembling a flower yet, it's just changed to more vertical growth after it made some big-ass leaves.

But this is on the section for "everything except marijuana" called Gardening. I don't NEED to grow weed to access the community here. And perhaps you should have read the title too, Sunflower isn't an exotic strain or something.

And I don't need help growin weed but thanks

I have some Sun flowers that I'm growing for my nephew. I have mine doing the samething. They do grow tall and right now you want to veg them and just them grow. This unlike weed you want to grow tall. I keep a fan blowing to keep the stem stong to support the flower that is to come. I believe that you would add the bloom nutes after the flower has started to develop. Are you going to grow them completly indoors? Mine will be going out side so I don't need to worry about switching to bloom. I know the ones I got are the titan variity that grow 5' to 6'. My sister inlaw didn't specify what she wamnted. She wanted me to grow 3' dawarfs. I just think like a kid and figure that bigger is better, lol. How tall will yours go?

I got some Burpee seeds, supposed to be "Mammoth" in the 12ft range lol - they're outside by the roses.

Lol, very nice. I definatly have to find that kind for next year, lol. I wouldn't be to concerned with what nutes you use. Soil is very forgiving. I would let them get nice and big first. 12 foot range that is insance. I love it!!!

Oops, sorry. Hrm, yeah then you need to worry. That's the second mistake I've made, lol. I misread the package of seeds. Mine are not 5-6 feet. I was reading the package yesterday and it actually said 3.6 meters. So like you they are in the 12 foot range. My nephew will love them...my sister in law is gonna kill me and her husband laughed like crazy when I just called him.

I'm guessing yours will be similar to mine in the flower size. Mine say the flowers get to about 60cm. How old are yours now? I would let them veg until they are at least in the 6 foot range. Now I'm just guessing but weed normally can double in size from veg to flower. I would guess all plants are similar to a degree. I wouldn't think that the flower will start to develop until this time. Once it does, wait a week and then do the switch. Have you read any other gardening sites? if so what do they say? I wouldn't think that a lot of other sites would use DWC to grow sun flowers and this might be the best site. Good luck. Would love to see pictures once they start getting up there.

I gotta get off my lazy ass and take pics, and yeh I've decided once a flower starts forming I'll switch over.

I am on my first shot with sunflowers, corn and tomatos, they are all doing good. I am having more success with growing from seeed than even b4. Herb has such great life lknowledge and provides motivation for those otherwise "could give a shit". Plus it seems more yours if you start it from seed. Dont use those crappy little pete discs. jiffy pots and a bit of perlite on the bottom is good for everything. I am a first time home owner and my yard looks freakin great, especially since it started out so bad. Inside and out. out of a half acre like an 1/8 weeds "the invasive lawn ones"........thanks for the wind tip on the sf.

I'm spending my first summer in my new place too. I have swiss Chard, Tomoatoes, Oregano, and Zuccini. My Zuccini and Tomatoes dies because the day after I finally put them outside we had crazy hail and then a freezing night with lots of frost. That was mid may, just week ago. It was supposed to be okay. Oh well. I planted more Zuccini and tomatoes. I have cantalope and Watermellon to put out side. I live on a 1.5 Acre lot. Like you it was all weeds. Always fun to cut the grass, lol. Love tractors hehe.

Subscribed because I wanna see a your DWC sunflowers when you get a picture! I have some Kong Hybrid Sunflowers I'm growing this year outside that are supposed to be in the 12-14 foot range with 10 inch flowers! Between the bugs/dogs/other people being stupid, they're having a hard life. They're hanging in there though.

Had a little accident where the wind blew the lid 90 degrees and damaged the roots from being in the air for a few hours but things look to have perked back up and a flower's just starting to form. I think my PH is off though, I've kept a consistent 5.5 - 6.0 however the plants leaves have sustained a little irregular patchy necrosis so I'm wondering if they're perhaps a bit more into the basic formulas.
