When to switch to Flowering Nutrients?

@nuskool89 - it IS pretty big for a strain called Short Rider. I wan't expecting her to get 4'2" tall, LOL. Bigger isn't always better though. I'm happy with how she turned out, but it wasn't the best utilization of my available space. If I were to ever grow this strain again in the same room, I would give her a smaller pot, and maybe some LST along the way just to help with her overall size. Thanks for stopping by and checking them out though.

@SixMoreDucks... She wasn't real potent in the early flowering stage. Now that she's at least 1/2 way thru - I'm realizing I should have gone with a carbon filter. My buddy stopped by the other day, he had no idea I was growing. When I greeted him at the door, he said - "man step outside with me real quick - one of your neighbors HAS to be growing some CHRONIC... You need to smell this shit!!!" To which I replied - Come on in buddy :) . It really is some skunky bud. I'm not too worried about the smell though - I live in "Leave it to Beaver" land, and most everyone around is 65+ years old. It's a really quiet and tranquil place. I WILL make a more concerted effort to eliminate any odors that make their way outside though.

Makes me worried how bad of a smell mine might have. Found a carbon filter+fan combo on amazon.com that I might get soon. The strain I got says its the lowest odor in the auto realm, but I want to play it safe. Never grown at this location.

Also, yours is huge for an auto. How did that happen? lol So much for "SHORT ryder":-P!

Thats a nirvana strain? There is your problem man they have the stability of the federal reserve! Do yourself a favor and order from attitude and get (auto bomb) its short strong and heavy yielding! But the most important detail, stable! You're welcome

There are several reasons mine got as large as it did.
1. 3 Gallon pot. I've seen many small S.R.'s in 1-2 gallon pots
2. Nothing done to stunt growth - never topped, supercropped, Fim, LST, or anything similar. Just planted and watered and fed.
3. Proper attention to the Root Zone: Healthy Root = Bigger Fruit
(a) When mixing my soil, I added a generous amount of Pearlite
(b) Also while mixing up soil - she got loads of MycoMadness - beneficial bacteria
(c) Lastly - she got Humboldt Roots, root innoculant mixed up in the soil
(d) Properly fed & watered
4. Nutrients added at appropriate time and in correct levels.
(a) Fox Farm Big Bloom & Grow Big during "veg" + Humboldt Roots + Cal/Mag+
(b) Big Bloom & Tiger Bloom during flower + ChaChing + Gravity Flower Hardener + Cal/Mag
(c) Feed, water, feed, water. RECENTLY I have been going with feed, feed, water, feed, feed, water
(d) PH of water & Nutrient solution has been at 6.3 nearly EVERY time.
(e) PPM has been at appropriate levels for plants age/needs
5. Lighting, temperature, & Humidity
(1) 250 watt HPS thru entire grow for 2 plants = 125 watts each in small closet
(2) Temps stay between 68-75 except for extremely hot days like today (heat index was 105). Closet temp never exceeds 78f
(3) Veg RH was 55-60%, Bloom is between 45-53%

I dislike Nirvana for my own reasons, but more from a customer service standpoint then any stability concerns. I wonder if you are bashing them based on personal experience, or "legend"? I haven't been in this game for a great deal of time, but the way I understand it is that Nirvana USED to have a bad reputation, and unstable genetics. BUT that was the case with nearly ANYONE progressive enough to start marketing the "new" AutoFlower strains. Since then, they have come a LONG way. I have to say, the shipping was discreet and FAST, and I got what I ordered. The 2 Short Riders are nearly identical, only one of them is about 8" shorter since she's been a bit neglected and pushed away from the light. BUT as far as plant & bud structure, they are identical. Neither one have hermied. Neither one had any problems auto-flowering under 18hrs of light. Neither one seems overly succeptible to disease. I also ordered some Bubblelicious seeds - a friend is growing them, and had 3/3 germinate, 3/3 female, 3/3 autoflower, all 3 were the same pheno. I ordered some Northern Lights and gave the seeds to another buddy - no complaints from him either. Look - these Auto strains are meant for a certain niche of grower. They definitely have made a place for themselves. I'm probably not going to grow them anymore, but not because they are unstable or shitty, but because I can't clone the one I end up falling in love with.

Sorry if you actually DO have a legitimate concern about the stability of Nirvana's seeds, but I'm getting SICK AND FUCKING tired of all the people telling me I got fucked by them. NO I DIDN'T. I know what I ordered. I know what I got. My only issue with ordering from them was that an order I cancelled immediately was still charged to my account. It took several weeks to get straightened out. I ended up just taking more seeds then I wanted in order to resolve the matter, but I would have been MUCH happier with my MONEY back.

Thanks for the thorough reasoning behind why your girls are big! Im gonna a try a one gallon pot to keep em smaller. Cant fit 2 girls like yours in my tent and under my light. Im going with 2 Auto#1's under a 2ft 4bulb T5 light (both grow and bloom bulbs). As it is just my second grow I am curious what I can get from this setup. I saw a guy with a small PC grow and 2 CFLs with the same strain and he got 10g from a small plant. Quantity is not the biggest issue for me. (I am big into bonsai culture) I am interested in learning more about how to grow autos and get just enough smoke so last me till next harvest. (only smoke a gram a week or so) btw going organic. nothing special. worm castings and bat guano. also have general organics Grow and Bloom nutes if i want to use. your grow is quite enlightening.

Hey man, no disrespect whatsoever brother I am happy nirvana is working for you; it didn't for me. Aurora indica and white rhino
For me, caused nothing but problems and were disappointments. As for the reasoning your auto is so big, dude I run a badass organic mix with myco and bacteria, plus hygrozyme and humic. I get full obtential for the most part and feel like you do as well, I'm just saying, if they advertise short height it should be short.

@nuskool89 - yeah, I know what you mean. I was "in a mood" last night, sorry if I came off harsh or whatever. I agree the plant should have stayed short, but I just don't know who's to blame. They did reccommend not giving it any veg nutes at all. I didn't see that until someone sent me a link, and I was already well into flower. Maybe that was the difference... who knows? Anyways, sorry Nirvana didn't work out for you. Hopefully you found a breeder & strain that suits your needs. Again - sorry bout last night - had a lot going on.

Looking good man, was just going to answer your question on when to start bloom nutes but look at your plants now!! Doing great. I have 9 auto's right now, they are 28 days old today and ill be starting there bloom nutes tomorrow. They have already starting budding(only a coule days) but i havent been able to get out there to start there nutes. You did everything right i'd say man cause they turned out amazing. To see how much they've grown is great. My grow is outdoor and the last pictures i have on there is day 20, check it out and see what you think. I dont think there growing anymore but now that i seen yours, who knows!! I sure hope so. My profile, under my 17 plant 2012 grow-mostly auto flowering!! Happy growing!!

Thanks man. I'll go check yours out now! I would LOVE to have a good outdoor spot. I seriously contemplated using some public land, but didn't have the cahones.

Thanks again. If I'm not too tired after work I'll post some more pictures tonight. They are finishing up so fast. They went from looking like I could let em go for a month, to looking like I may be able to chop any day now. I'm going to have an expert come by & check them out to let me know if I should harvest. This is my first real grow after all.

Looking real nice,i would say atleast 2 more weeks . and in the next 2 weeks they will fatten up nicely. The buds get fattest last 2 weeks . And i use the cha ching till end of grow. no problems.IMO

@ Allenbud - you use ChaChing AFTER flushing? I want to give her something but was afraid it would Fuck up the taste of my buds. I tried a CFL grow and that weed tasted terrible. I think that was due to multiple issues though - excessive fertilizer, mild root rot, & no flush. I just DON'T want to screw this one up too. How long after flushing did you harvest? if I continue to use fertilizer/other additives, she will get at least 3, and up to 6, more feedings before I chop. Just not sure if it's worth the ? Had anyone used molasses after flushing?
