When to FIM

Well I repotted the girls about 4 days ago, gave them a 1/2 stength dose of fertilizer and also added some cal/mag to the water since I suspected I had a deficiency from when I was using distilled water (like the dumbass noob I am). This is my first grow. They are super happy & growing like weeds lol! My question is when do I FIM them? I have read & watched a lot about how to do it & although it makes me nervous I think I can do it sucessfully just unclear as to when. I plan to continue vegging for at least another month, I have lots of room in my flower room & I am in no hurry to rush anything, I'd rather make the most of what I've got.

As always thanks for any advise & insight you all can give me, you guys are the bomb!
Also the NO BMEAT POLICY is still in full effect. :peace:

Well, there is no rule that you have to top at all....it depends on what you are trying to do.

I am FIMing my new mothers for Crop #3 like mad, but then I want clones, and at the
same time my AK-47s are untopped and to-be-lollipopped. ....because I am going for a SOG.

Good luck,

JD

In one of the top-or-no-top threads someone pointed out that it also
depends on the breed that you are growing. They then quoted an authority
commenting that Blueberry is one breed that absolutely needs topping to
reach its max yields.

What breed is that? (did I miss this?)

The answer also still depends on the space that you have to use....and how
long you want to Veg. (i.e. how tall can they be? How large over all are you
aiming for?)

Well indica and indica dominat are ok to top/fim. Sativa dominant strains are better left alone. But research more about your strain. It's not all black and white.

Thanks for the replies! The girls are 9 wks old from seed. They are about 6 1/2" tall now in 3 gal pots. Is that considered way small for 9 wks Fresh Prince? Being my forst grow, I've made my share of mistakes along the way, everything from overwatering in the beginning & using distilled water to ph being off before I bought a good meter. They are not stretched at all but sturdy & compact which is what I'm going for.

I have 3 types, Black Jack which is a hybrid, Super Skunk & Maui Waui which are both sativa dominant. I had never heard or read that sativas don't like fimming until Loola just brought it to my attention. Even after googling & reading several posts throughout the web there seems to be a lot of conflicting info about it.

I have the Ed Rosenthal's Grower's Handbook & it explains fimming in detail but never warns against fimming sativas. So I am confused as usual. I guess I'll read some more! I appreciate any & all advice given! :peace:

I really don't see how u kept em so small in 9 weeks....I have plants 2feet tall and 3 feet wide in 6-8 weeks.....idk what happened here...they seem OK.

Thanks for the reply! Well if there's a way to fuck it up I'm sure I found it! :wall: I know the mistakes I made probably stunted their growth but they seem to be growing a lot the last few days so like I said I'm in no hurry. If I have to veg these bitches for 6 months then I'm patient enough to do it lol!
