When should I consider my Seeds Duds?

They all cracked open and a little root came out. I then planted them in cups but nothing has happened. I uncovered one to look at it and it hasn't grown a bit. Is there a way to tell if they're dead?

be sure the soil's moist around the seed and it isn't getting light, it will find its way up. Unless of course you mishandled the seed and broke the taproot which is VERY easy then you're pretty much F'd.

some seeds are duds,i just planted some rinoxskunk crosses that came as freebies from kindseed.the other seeds are about 6" while the skunk/rino crosses are not even an inch, its 3 weeks,so to the garbage they go.i wish companies wouldnt send bad seeds as freebies,it waste time,we all cant grow 40 seeds at a time.it is the 3rd time that freebies have been duds,i probably now will never even plant freebies, not even outside.but your question is if they are not doing anything after a few weeks they are duds.i have had slow ones become decent, but not worth it if you have others.

Its been a week since germ to cup. I didn't break the taproot. Its still there. The soil is moist from what I've seen. I was told that light was good for it though and not the dark. I will try it though. We will see what happens.
