When harvesting your ladies.......?

I've read lots of times about how you can just chop the whole plant and hang it upside down or you can chop all the branches and bin the main stem and root ball........., but could you not just remove the valuble bud leaving as many branches and fan leaves as possible, then just repot the already well established root system in new soil. Then stick it up 24/0 or 18/6 lights and reveg?

Would this not shorten the veging cycle?

Would this produce the same potencey of bud as the first time around?

This might be a bit of a stupid question with a very obvious reason why growers dont do this....but hey there's no such thing as a stupid question.....right?

would take like 4 weeks for it to return to veg from flowering then another 4 weeks for it to establish itself once again

Sorry if this is a stupid question - is it possible to harvest larger buds and then keep flowering the smaller buds at the bottom of the plant??

You can take off a nug or two that is ready. It is not necessary to harvest the whole thing especially if you only have 1 or 2 plants. Alot of times the top nugs will be ready before the bottom ones. If you harvest the whole plant because of the top ones then the lower nugs will be less potent than the ones up top.

Good question.

I just hate to harvest those small buds. Hoping to find a way to harvest the buds that are ready and leave the plant growing to let the little ones get bigger.

By chopping the top cola, wouldnt you put the plant into stress? Would this affect the yield in the end?

it does for a day or two depending on the strength of the plant. i've done it on strong plants and they barely notice and it helps put a lot more light on the lower buds so they fully mature.

also if you look closely at the buds on your plant usually the cola will mature faster.

Lemme make sure I got this right: so I can just cut off the top buds, leaving the lower bud sites to mature while I'm drying the trimmed off buds from top, and then leave my plant in the reservoir (dro grow) and continue to let it grow. And if I change the light back to MH and switch the light time from 12/12 back to 18/6, my plant will essentially live another lifespan producing another generation of buds??? Sounds incredible to me.

its called a plant google it

j/k

but yes also i have been struggleing with this issue. also if you do it this way then u cant flush right?

a plant, huh? got anymore intelligent advice or helpful information to throw out there? Silly me, all this time I thought I was growing butterflies...dumbass fool.

let me get this right. When the top cola has changed all the white hairs to red and the trichomes are at the stage the grower is looking for, I can chop it down. then continue to let the lower shoots mature. By doing this with a strong plant, the plant wont notice the top cola missing? or wont stress out very much and will continue on growing as if nothing has changed

Yep you can. The lower buds wil continue to full ready time. It may stress for a day or two but the energy the top one was using just deverts into the buds that are left. You do not have to change from flowering cycle back to veg, just keep flowering til the rest of you buds are done. Good luck with it

there are stupid questions, but this is not one of them. the potency will be the same theoretically, but you will be better at growing the 2nd time around so it should be better. you can just cut off the nugs and re-veg. i did it to make a mother for my clones. when i flowered it there wer like 15 colas. great stuff. and it only takes like 3 weeks to start growing again.

That is great to know. Is it necessary to go back to veg? Or can we just keep the lights at 12/12? What effect will returning to veg have on the lower smaller buds?

And I also am wondering about flushing - should we still flush for the last two weeks of flowering before removing the mature buds?

What light schedule do you recommend for the flushing period?

Thanks so much for your help on this.

Is it ok to use adv nutrients final phase - prune the ripe buds - and return plant to bloom nutrients to further grow the rest of the buds? Thanks!

Yes they can do final phase nutes and prune ready buds as well. Just put them back to bloom nutes and finish out the lower buds on the 12/12 lighting cycle. It works, some friends that grow do this alot and it never truely phases the plant. i

just plug the hole on the main stem. you will start to see the growth of the lowers fast.

Thanks brasmith and joepro.

Joepro - what did you use to plug that stem after harvesting the cola? your plant looks very much like mine - just hate to harvest those small buds - don't we?

Also - your avatar had me checking my glasses!
