do you class the first week of flower when you first put the plant under 12-12 or when you first see pistels i'v always gone from 12-12

I count from when i see the first pistils starting to cluster. But i only count the weeks as a guide, i let the plant tell me when it's ready for the chop

Going from first sign of pistils is not a scientifically sound starting point, since that number can change from strain to strain.

Going from the thing that we can actually control, flipping the lights to 12/12, is much more standard.

I've had strains show pistils after three weeks of veg, so yeah, counting flower days from when you see pistils is silly.

I didn't mean from first sight of pistils. I was meaning the first flower clusters(usually 2 weeks or so in). If i counted from first sight of pistils then yes i'd be silly too.

Its a very subjective topic. And as far as I know there is no truely correct answer. To each his own. One thing is for certain, a plant is done when its done. Fool proof...

If one were so impatient that by the last three weeks of flowering they cannot stop obsessing on there plants should stay away from the ladies for 7 days at a time maybe this will make the last(hardest) part easier for them? The cardinal rule of growing is to NOT CUT EARLY, so ive been doing as closet gardener has switch to 12/12 then wait a 4-5 day period to see nugs starting to show formations, then i do a "softcount" flowerstart week 1 and have the 12/12 start day on my calendar, then i compare and contrast diff starins and how they react. gage green genetics so far have been the strongest along with dog og from breeders.

Same with people and clone,root,trans.,etc. I don't get it in a less than optimal environment from cut to flower usually 2-4 weeks mostly 4. Two weeks for roots two more after in a pot to settle before flower. A month for no veg, more for veg. when I see changes in a cut veg has started.

This is probably boiling down to flowering times stipulated by breeders. They are just a guide.

I personally class flowering once I switch to 12/12. But for 9 weeks strains I allow 11weeks of 12/12. But I cut them where they are ready.
