Hey guys what are your thoughts on this? Atm i have 6 clones in 3ltr plastic pots went into them 6 days ago non are above 6inchs tall so im guessing wont be anytime soon? Or will it? I dont know im noob lol. I ask because i plan to LST my plants and intend on tying it down to the pot but thinking it be pointless to start in small pots. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

when the dirt plug is solid with roots and pops out of the container when dryish.
I suggest letting your plants grow naturally first round, get to know them, how to grow and care for
normal growing plants. then move on to fancy training and stress.

good luck
my girls go from a cup, to a one gallon, to a five pail. 6 inches, 18 inches, finish around 5' respectively

Thanks for the advice man, so its better to gradualy increase pot size rather than shifting them straight to end game pots. Interesting. When do you think is the right time to switch from a small 26w led grow strip to 600w hps lighting?

dont hold back on the 600 in flower. you can veg with it too but cheaper with the led.
I find a gradual up pot is good for me, my perpetual harvest/clone/veg cycles. people dont do well with little plants in big buckets until experienced with proper watering.

I worry that such a small led strip will struggle to cover 6 plants all the way through to flower im looking for a big yield and will be using 3 600w hps lights, 2 plants to each light.

Was thinking could veg all 6 under 1 light then when i flip em fire up all 3 n get some rare budding going.

Yeah a 26 watt led will cover a square foot, maybe 2 for veg but thats pushing it. Id suggest getting some cob leds or cfls for vegging. Would save you on power since you could set it up so your only using enough light to cover the space you need as you need it

3 600 watt lights is pretty extreme for a first grow imo. Id love to have that to work under. I grow for personal use and use 1 400 watt hid for flowering.

I have 5 600w hps at my disposal but that really would be overkill. Im looking to use 3 for better yield i figure better yield less i have to grow only looking to be self sufficient without having to constantly be growing. As much as im enjoying it fact is it isnt exactly legal round these parts less time growing = less chance of being caught. Depending on yield im hoping to grow enough for a year cured and stored in glass jars. Will only get more potent as the year goes on too.

Well actually the less your power noticably spikes the less chance of getting caught. Your not likely to get caught growing unless you tell someone or make it very obvious, or if all of a sudden your power use spikes dramatically. Although i think your still good. Not sure though but i think it would take 5-10k suddenly being used to draw suspicion. I want to get a 600 watt and another tent. Really considering doing that after this grow. The 400 watt doesnt cut it for me anymore :bigjoint:

Mostly cause i smoke out too many ppl

Power spikes are a great way to notify people you don't want to know. If you don't tell anyone about your grow then the chances of you getting caught are pretty slim (unless your power spikes like said before). Three 600s is serious overkill for 6 plants, I hope you got some great ventilation too. Good luck man

EDIT - Also a pretty general rule of thumb for pots is 1 gallon per 1 foot of plant. Once it reaches that height you DEFINITELY should repot but ideally before it gets to that point.

Yeah the 1 foot per gallon doesnt work if you grow bushes though. I can fill up a 5 gallon with a 2ft or shorter bush easy

It kind of just takes time to learn when your plants are the right size to repot. As was said above you can pull out the rootball and check, id gently turn the pot on its side over my bathtub and give it a few shakes and bumps and press the bottom till it comes loose and if all the soil comes out held together by the roots you definitely want to pot up. Always get into final containers before flowering if possible

Get yourself a 600MH bulb and whack them all under there to speed up the veg growth. Grow them out so you can open them up when your ready to flower 2 per 600w hps. You need something to fill that gap between your tiny LED and your flowering lights. You can do it with a hps but a MH will grow tighter nodes so when they go to HPS and stretch they will fill more space.

Interesting, so is the MH bulb better for veg and the hps better for flower?
Mh has more blue spectrum which makes for less upward growth and less spacing between nodes. You want different ratios of red/blue for veg than flowering, although if you were to select one light for full cycle hps would be the one because it will grow good veg plants while mh will do a bad job in flower, not to say it wouldnt work

If your ballasts are digital you can get the bulbs and put them in, if magnetic hps ballasts youll have to get a new one for the mh

Interesting, all my ballasts are magnetic so would require a new full set having already paid out so much for the over all setup i think ill wait till my next grow to invest in an MH kit. May need to invest in an ac unit if im going to pull off my 3 light plan so thats top of my need to do all though i am still holding out for a very cold autumn here will be back end of september i think before i flip them (unless they out grow the limits ive marked out withing the tent for maximum veg growth befor flower) some LST should keep that in check though. I hope. Lol
