When do I need to harvest?

So they've been in 12/12 for about 6 weeks. This says around 2 weeks to me.

But I put some pictures in and I'd like you to give me an opinion on when you think it will be ready, there are different strains in there and if you want a further look check here.

Aside from that I have been looking at some weed I bought, and looking at the Trichomes with a 40x magnifier. They all look cloudy to me I can't seem to find any amber looking ones.

Is it a good idea to look at dried weed to get an idea of how mine will look while still on the plant?

Any further tips on how to look at these Trichomes.

This is my first grow in case you didn't guess :eyesmoke:

Oh really, I was wondering why they weren't smelling silly and that could be an answer. What makes you think that? I just like to know how you know :P

Still looks relatively young. Like steeZz said 4 more weeks. She will pack on allot of bud between now and then, be patient and let her do her thing.

id wait longer also, it probably a sativa so itll take longer than 8 weeks, also you can cut it down when the trichromes are couldy or amber, its just personal preference and its different each way. but your buds will get bigger, they look like bowls from the picture i cant really tell but they all get bigger and wrap around the stem. Just be patient! ha

I dont think your even close to harvest, your plants look very Sativa like (long thin leaves) and those can take 12+ weeks to finish flowering. Can you give us any more info on your grow setup....like what kind of lights your using, how long they were vegged before 12/12 flip. Post some more pics when some of the white hairs start turning amber/brown......I really think you have 6+ weeks to go, as they look like they are only a few weeks into the flowering stage. If the plant wasnt mature enough when you started the 12/12 flowering, then you really cant go by that date...good luck man and let those bitches grow,

it hasn't even started to fill out yet,its about 8-12 weeks from when the flowers appear not from 12 12 flip, usually longer.
each of those white hairs will swell at the base until the buds are formed.
quite a way to go yet,i wouldnt bother even looking at trics until they fill out and it looks like bud not hairs.
be patient. :-)

They took a week into 12/12 to show some flowers, so I guess that adds a week. So say I'm now 5 weeks in, 8-12 will mean 3-7 weeks left.

Here's my journal https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/447938-first-grow-mini-grow.html

Some of the hairs have started to turn more brownish on one of the plants. They are all different strains from different bag seeds.
The one with slightly brownish hairs is the one in the last picture which in reality does look much fuller than that. So I guess that plant must be a quicker strain. It's also grown naturally smaller.

Thanks for the input, bit disappointing but not as disappointing as an early harvest would be!

Going to go play with my ladies.

Okay So I popped into the closet and had a good look at them taking into account what you've all said.

My pictures are a bit clearer now lets call them A B and C in the order they're in.

IMAG0176 (Custom).jpgIMAG0175 (Custom).jpgIMAG0177 (Custom).jpg

From what you said, C looks to be the furthest away to me, they look much more like hairs and haven't filled at the bottom at all.

B as you can see has lots of orange hairs... it didn't on the weekend I swear!

A does have a few hairs where the tips have started to turn more orangey brown.

So what you think now? 3-5 weeks for A&B and maybe a few more weeks for C?

I have an update which I think might help someone give me an idea of how long.

Looking under the microscope at A I can see the trichomes and they are all clear, but does me being able to see them at 40x give anyone a better idea as to how long?

B doesn't look as developed under the microscope was hard to find anything really.

C was just hairy.

I will wait as long as it takes, I just want to learn as much as possible so I pick your brains to help me be able to see the signs.

They all still have awhile. Just being able to see trichs under 40x does not say anything about how far along they are. It about seeing where the trichs are in development. I would not even worry about looking at the trichs yet. You can just look at them and tell there not ready. Maybe a month.

Hmm, if the trichs are developing on one plant already and not on another would that not suggest that maybe the one with them developing is a faster flowering strain?

I have no idea of the strains in there, all different bag seeds.

I just found a post I made the day I found my first flowers. I am 4 weeks 5 days in....

No wonder I was confused! So how do they look for 4 weeks 5 days since first flowers by that I mean a few hairs.

could take upto another 8 weeks or so depending on strain.
turning brown at that stage is a bit strange?
type and strength of lights?
medium?
nutes?

I did post a link to my journal for ya :P

It's in soil, there's 130watts CFL

Using a flowering nutrient I found in my local store.

I'd say the hairs are more orange than brown, but one plant is ill :( going to try and diagnose it today. Leaves are very pale green with a yellowish tinge to them, and the leaves are clawing.

If all goes to plan they should blow up in size on you, depending on the lights & whatnot yes I does look about 4-5weeks on the slower side. You will notice in the upcoming weeks those little hairballs will start to grow on top of one another into little clusters of sticky goodness. Be patient, whatever you do make sure you do not harvest early. imo do not count days or weeks, let the plant finish when it finishes.
