What's wrong with this plant?

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the plant in the first picture? I have several with varying degrees of this problem. I know it's hard to tell, but the second set of leaves, the first "pot looking" leaves, are curled under. The first set of leaves look healthy.

The soil feels damp, I don't think think it's under or over-watered. They are under a 400W HPS which is about 40" off the plants. The second picture is of a plant that I believe stretched a little under the CFLs, which is why they are already under the HPS.

Thanks for your help!

If it's nute burn, it's from those that were in the soil as I haven't hadn't yet added any nutrients.

The stretching occurred before I added the HPS and I think it has improved since then. Now, especially with the leaf curling I'm experiencing, I'm afraid to lower the HPS for fear of burning.

Do you think the leaf curling could be from the light or do you think I can safely lower the light?

I think you should do some research and see how close you can get the light without burning it, or do some experimenting and lower it little by little until you see a little burn then raise it up a little (a little burn isn't a big deal). The guy who said it was nute burn is fuckin with you cuz there's no sign of nute burn. Another thing is possibly over watering. Over watering is an extremely common mistake and you shouldn't water on a schedule, just water when the soil is extremely dry up to a two inch depth. Better to under-water than over-water.

I wouldnt worry about the leaves curling at this early stage. The first true leaves sometimes do this, Im growing haze special and out of about 20 plants about 10 of them the leaves looked like pic1. the next set of leaves will probably be ok. as for the other that is stretched, move your lights a bit closer, put your hand under the light if its warm on your hand then the plants will feel it also. adjust lights acordingly. young plants dont need any nutes for about 4-5 weeks after sprouting. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your responses.

I lowered the light about 2.5". I will start there and see what happens.
