  • Actually, through most of the vegetative stage I was able to adequately control the odor with my homemade set up. The smell then is more herby- it's hard to distinguish if it's pot or catnip or oregano. But just 24 hours after I started flowering, which was just three weeks ago, the smell was INTENSE. Even with the homemade filter running 24/7, walking in that bedroom was like putting your head in a bag of pot. I had seven plants then, but I only ended up with three females.

I had the air blowing through activated carbon and then through the dryer sheets. The odor was seriously weakened by that and I had to try to smell anything but other people smelled it as soon as they walked in the house. Also the dryer sheets only work well for a couple hours so you could go broke just buying dryer sheets. Furthermore, I have my cabinet in a bedroom with the door closed and the basement door closed. There's not even heat in that room so it's not like the furnace was blowing the smell around.

This really is the bottom line. Unless you don't care if your place smells like pot, you're going to need to buy a good filter. Save yourself the trouble of trying other stuff. I don't know how they do it, but it's incredible how well those filters work. I can send you a pic of my set up if you want.
