Sour diesel from Apothecary Genetics regular seed. Vegged an out 6 weeks from sprout date. Vegged under sun system lec 315w and supplemental t 5's. In the middle of week 10 in flowering with 9 other plants of different strains. Flowered with 2 1000w hps in sun systen hoods w sun systen magbetic ballasts. Tuper soil in 7 gal smart pots. Botanicare KIND nutrient lines with base, bloom, sweet ,mag addittive, bloombastic. PH always between 5.9 and 6.1 feedings done every other watering. Only ph'd water the past week.

Trying to figure out why the top colas look like this. It's only the ones at the top of branches, the nugs under neath look fine. My only guess is heat stress. There's has been no hot temps in my room, however the first 8 weeks of flower average temperatures were in the upper 60's as I pump cold colorado air in. Now the past 2 to 3 weeks with the weather warming up temps in my room have been I'm the low to mid 70s so there has been a temperature increase. Luckily she's the only girl doing this.

Any info much appreciated.

2.jpg This looks like my black lime reserve strain. the colas are all fucked up and its never happened to me before. The bottom of the plant near is flowering hard while the top comes to a point. It looks like a sword. Probably just a hiccup in genetics. 1.jpg View attachment 3631910 3.jpg

I have 2 of them and it happened to both. I know the strain needs about 35 more days of flowering, but I don't think those colas are coming through.

They should fill in a lot in 35 days. It's not often you see Sour D that is that green with no claw leaves. I'd say you are dialed in perfectly. 70-75 days total to finish right?

Ive seen top colas on a sativa that looked just like those. They look stressed from too much light. when you smoke it, tops wont taste as good as bottom buds or have the aroma either - due to turpenne production ceasing in these top buds. move lights back to prevent more damage. I hope this helps...

Could I chop the top 1/3rd of the plant like people do in partial harvest to let the energy go to the bottom? or just let it be.

I cut mine back to point of normal growth - about 3 inches on the ones I had.

Reduce the photons hitting your plant tops. Led can be very directional and can really lay down a lot of focused light.

The term for what you have is "bolting", due to stress. Lettuce is a good example of a plant that will bolt easily.

Best of luck

Thanks I've been working with this nutes line for 3 years and agree that I've dialed it in. It went 69 days before I chopped her.
Also agree that it's probably light stress. Heat stress didn't make since when the temps just went from 67ish to 73 74 ish

Today's day 71. Still have 3 plants I haven't even gotten the tops off yet. (I go around, take tops, then go back around and harvest the bottom 2/3's a week or so later) got 2 hso blue dreams, one sativa pheno one indica. Both will go close to 11 weeks. EXCITED

If this is the case. I wonder why all other 9 plants were perfectly fine. Maybe just sensitive genetics in this sour d female?
