What's Up With Floridas Liquor Laws? Closed At 10pm?

I'm in port charlotte florida and I can't find a liquor store open past 10pm. The state law forbids sale between 3am and 7am. Must be some local ordinance, but that seems utterly retarded.
 
I agree. It's not a podunk town or anything. There is a ton of traffic and people still out all over. Not like new york or anything, but it's not like the city is shut down or anything. Lots of 24hr businesses around here but the liquor sales stop at 10pm. I assume it must be a city or county law stopping the sale. It's totally retarded.
 
Well I live in michigan. I'm only here for a few more days. I just think it's totally retarded to stop sales at 10pm.
 
latest liquor stores stay open in my state is 11, but a lot still close at 10. no bar or club may serve any alcohol after 2 am anywhere, so after parties are basically illegal. we finally got liquor stores to be "allowed" to open on sunday about 5 years ago. nanny to the max. my county doesn't even allow beer and wine at convenience stores. up until 2 years ago not even supermarkets could sell the stuff. big brother is awesome. he always knows what's best.
 
Shit Tennessee is ridiculous, liquor stops at 12 not even sold on Sunday, beer stops at 3 am and goes back on at 6 am...
I just don't understand it..
 
Dude i WISH my liquor stores closed at 10! these close at 7pm on the weekdays and 5pm on saturday, closed on sunday. Washington sucks!

And ya, beer at the grocery and gas stations stop at 2am

I hear ya dude. I used to live in New Port Richey. It's fucked up, you can't buy after 10:00pm, but you can buy liquor at 10:00am on Sunday.
 
this shit is crazy, in england all supermarkets/corner shops sell alcohol we have 'mini-markets' some that are 24hour and allowed to sell alcohol throughout this time!

clubs in my city are open until 9 am, one of them re-opens at 12am on a sunday and stays open until 2am

and casinos are licensed to sell 24/7 so we always end up at one after a night out!
 
ah, yes, casinos. i'm a half hour from foxwood's. 24 hr booze and oxygen, and you can smoke almost anywhere but they are only allowed to do this because it's an indian casino on indian land. i once smoked a joint in the shitter there. no one cared. they stop the buffet at 10 though. pricks.
 
New Mexico - no liquor sales after 10pm (even in convenience stores) and no sales on Sunday until after 12pm.
 
wow in my province we can only buy liquor from the liquor store, and beer from the beer store, they are open from 9-9 monday to friday, and 10-5 wekends, and they always close on holidays . Convenient stores are not allowed to sell any alcohol, bars close at 2am, it's also illegal to serve from 3am to 9 am, unless it's on native land, they have seperate rules and laws, they have casinos going 24/7 so you can always keep the party going

haha I feel your pain..it pisses off after a 6 hour bender at the table at three in the morning I cant get something decent to eat.
 
Same over here, they brought it in around 2 years ago. Abasutly shocking! There once was a time you could stumble out of the battle crusier and into the offo at 12:30 and pick up a fat bag o cans for the night. Now we have to stock up before 10:00pm and leave our booze behind the bar.

A sorry state of affairs so it is...

The say its to stop the whole "binge drinking" culture but in all honesty it does sweet fuck all.
 
im in maryland and in the city i live in most liquor stores close at 9 or 10, but there are a few open till 11 or 12 and only 1 thats stays open till 2am every day of the week except sundays. my hometown in maryland though isnt as good, every liquor store closes before 10pm and isnt open until almost noon.
