What's this?

Sorry for the shitty quality, but this 1 bud has this small brown spot right on top in the middle. None of the other 100+ bud sites have it. Chances are it took a direct hit from an acorn, but is this what bud trauma looks like? I wouldn't assume it's mold seeing as it's not on any of the others. Insight is greatly appreciated.

i cant really tell anything from that picture, im thinking it might be a water spot though.

when watering do you pour over the whole plant, or just by the base? im thinking a droplet of water magnified some rays of light and caused a small burn spot.

i hope for you its not mold, which can also be caused by watering the buds and entire plant instead of just the base

This is "bud worm" season. Not saying you have them, but the first sign (if you don't see the moth eggs) is portions of your bud turning brown. I found out about them too late and they ruined my plant. Get a small screwdriver or needle nose pliers and pull apart and dig into the damaged portion of bud. If you have worms, you will find more damage inside the bud, small pieces of worm poop, and a tiny worm. The younger worms are generally brown, and they turn green as they eat their way through your bud. There is a product called "BT" which supposedly can get rid of the worms if used soon enough.

I hope you don't have them. They are insidious. Good luck.

I'm gonna check for worms. They can even invade the northeast during colder temps?

K, I never mist my plant, just whatever rain comes (which isn't much lately) just water the base. Has been some dew the past few mornings but sun comes and dries it up pretty quick.

I forgot to add outdoor, don't know if it matters.

Closer inspection show it to be exterior, the insides look good with no bugs. I read the budworm thread in OG and mine don't look anything like that. It's a few sporadic buds now but others look like they are starting.

However,

It does look like just the pistils are turning brown and apparently dying. I noticed during 1 bud dissection, and a mass of them just looked like a spot being all together. So a new problem for you!

I hate to even bring it up, but could it be bud rot? Onew of the tops of my buds came off during inspection and the stem too it looked pretty bad and brown too. A little hollow I'd say.

That's pretty much a bud mold. What you have to do is to cut off the damaged part.

There may be a slight possibility that it was pests. A focused pic may help, but it's almost 95% a bud mold.

Did it rain recently?

Thats the thing. It hasn't rained for 2 weeks, maybe some morning dew one or twice but the sun dries it up pretty quick. I only water the bottom, never mist it for that reason. It seems the pistils are browning a bit on the lower half of the plant, but its only 4 week flower indica. I'll try to get a better pic up in a bit. It doesn't look any worse today. I hit it pretty good with 2 tbsp molasses per gallon once for my calcium def., and that seems to have stopped. Could have such a large dose gummed up the works a bit?

Btw, indicas are typically 60 days to finish, right? I could see pistils turning right about now.

The molasses didn't do it. The only thing high doses of molasses can do is to attract pests at the bottom of the stem if it wasn't well mixed in or create root molds if used too much at once. 2tbs is quite alright.

Yeah, indicas take some 60 days to flower, but outdoors that may take a bit more.

Right. Well, the rest of it looks ok, the question spots are not getting worse, only the spot where I knocked off the tip of the bud (doh!) Seems as though my spots are indeed spreading on my leaves, maybe just part of the leaves dying. I guess I'll wait it out and see what happens, seems to be approaching that time anyway.

+rep for your time guys. (when it lets me, I won't forget!)
