Whats the best way to grow a clone ?

My outdoor grow was found by someone this past season so Im looking for the best possible yield as my jar of smoke is about gone. I had a tangerine dream started from seed....fucked that up like only i can....now im trying to make mountains out of mole hills with the only clone that survived....

Im limited on space...slightly smaller than a 3x5 closet with 8ft ceiling. 1- 400w hps, tiny ass exhaust fan, and thats pretty much it. Doing a FoxFarm Grow with FFOF and all the liquid and soluble foods. Right now I am trying to find out if I should let my clone just grow naturally, (will trim off lower branches, but nothing else) or if i should FIM or top or whatever. I need lots and lots of smoke as I smoke lots and lots of smoke!

Thanks for any suggestions

As far as i know, tangerine dream is a tall plant, so some topping wouldn't go astray.
Your one plant could get topped once or twice, get SCROGd under your 400w and give you lots and lots of smoke.
Set up the screen and keep training it spread out, then after a month or two of veg or when it is full to your satisfaction, turn to 12/12.
In my mind, using a scrog to maximise the canopy would be the best way of using one plant with one 400w light?

I haven't done it with a tall sativa so i'm not 100% if the topping is necessary for the scrog, or if the other branches will beef up simply due to being at equal/greater height to the main grow tip?

It's important to top potential scrogg plants early in the grow. When the tops are pinched the auxins the plant sends to the apical dominate top go to the side branches making the canopy even out more. This and a good sized pot to help with large root development over extended veg cycles will have you with some primo:clap: headies in no time

well the clone is 12 inches tall now, in an 8in pot. before i switch over, shes going into a 14in pot to finish in. Hate to ask a dumb question, although that has never stopped me before, but what is scrogg? also if i top it, how many side branches should i leave ? I was growing them as four main branches before...top or fim or whatever it is called after six sets of leaves sprouted, and cut off bottom two pushing everything into the four main branches...not totally sure im completely happy with that method when i do it. a friend of mine has more room, more light and better setup all the way around, and he does really well with the 4 main.

Id rather FIM, less stress and does the same thing as topping pretty much, but gives you a chance to add 2 or 3 more bud sites. You dont really need to top with a 8 ft ceiling.
