I don't think that bud is distributed evenly as much as it grows depending on how close to the light and what kind of supporting leaf structure it has. I think that topping and such just adds more growth to the top area of a plant and so in a sense you are redistributing. I htink of it like this: either creating more top/main colas produces more growth and leaf structure at the top of the plant leading to more main/tip colas (and robbing lower parts of the plants of light both through canopy penetration and distance), or it grows more main/top colas without adding enough new fan leaves and such which leads ends up giving you more smaller colas approximately equal to the same weight if you hadn't done anything.

So the way I look at it is it either works or it doesn't. And if it does work, why not just lst and get that greater amount of goods out of your whole plant instead of just the top?
I think from now on I will always LST, unless with autos or a strain is known not to enjoy lst (not sure they ever don't). The reasons why I will do this are the following: An even canopy which allows for greater light penetration, and then every part of the plant is equally close to the light. This leads to having many nice colas and a small bit of popcorn bud vs one or up to several nice main top colas with lots to little bud below them. Going the LST route also can allow you to maximize the use of a grow space that dosen't have as much vertical room ad it does horizontal.

Keep in mind these are bag seed and thus probably different strains (especially since the one turned purple), but I definitely feel better about what I got off my lst plant than what I will get off my verticals (I didn't do any topping or anything like that to the verticals)

The last one is obviously shorter than the others, she was a weird mutant baby her whole life. But the first 2 I'm pretty sure were basically the same height (except one was more horizontal and the other was vertical).
The LST plant gave me 299.9 grams wet and I feel that is going to be better than what I get off of the other 2 even though it was on the side of the reflector opposite of the base of the bulb, and because of that top cola being taller than the rest (that was the stretch from after switching to 12/12) the rest of those buds where further from the reflector glass than the top. So I feel that LST is the way to go even though this is my first grow ever and it was with bagseed. I think the idea behind an even canopy where everything is an equal distance from the light will get you better yields than a vertical plant with a main stem of the same length.

PS: So basically I don't care about main top colas. Why have a big or a couple nice main/top colas, when you could LST and get a ton of good stuff? If you lst then all the bud is top bud (you know how they say the top bud is better than the lower? well with LST they are all on top!)

I think its more of a space issuse cause keeping it one cola is not the best for small spaces like i got but outdoors i wouldnt even top maybe some LST but nothing drastic not like this

i love this pic

azoo what do you think of what I said? I see you tried to quote it but you didn't add any words of your own?
