What Y'all know about starting a delivery service in SoCal?

Green Thumb of God
I would love to make medicinal marijuana into a career. We have 30,000 in startup money right now and don't want to make any moves for about 6 months so we will have a bit more to invest in this if we choose to go down this path.

I basically want whatever your opinions and experiences are. How much money should we start with? Is the market over saturated? What area do you think would be the best to start up? We are in Covina but very mobile and open to relocation. We have put a lot of thought into this as far as marketing and profit margins but tell me the stuff I'm not seeing. If it's that easy everyone would do it right?

Anyone been to oaksterdam U classes? any insight? I am on the waiting list.

purchase a cargo van... wrap it in advertising for some legit company (make it look like a computer repair service, or roofing contractor) and open a website. and advertise.

get a power inverter, a notebook, AT&T connect card, and a scanner for scanning/proccessing recommendations... store them in a database remotely so you can verify and keep track of your customers.

Thanks for the ideas. We are pulling things together slowly here. I am guessing in six months we will open up wih a website and start marketing. I think edibles could be a nice addition I'll hit you up privately as we get rolling.

Honestly, the only people I've seen respond intelligently and informatively to these threads are med providers in Colorado. I'm not sure that there are actually all that many "professional" medical mj providers here on this site. I do think, though, that the sites that are very restrictive about membership and what can be discussed regarding medical mj may have more of the answers you're seeking.

I assume you're aware of some of the more recent DEA busts down there, yes?

I think GT has some good ideas to start, but I think your best bet is to contact an attorney. You'll need to know property laws as well as those pertinent specifically to medical providers, and tax laws as well. Because, if people think the DEA is bad... ;)

Yeah i want to make sure I am operating everything 100% withinthe state law and as close to federal law as I can be. The recent DEA busts are upsetting but Obama is going to win the white house and he says the federal busts aren't constitutional and that he won't allow them in states that have legalized it. So I'm hoping that risk will be cut significantly.

I won't offer up my opinion on Obama here. But, were I you I would start with NORML, and then find an attorney for at least an initial consultation, one who KNOWS this stuff. Maybe you can contact a dispensary and ask for attorney recommendations. The only "pot lawyers" I know are in the defense end of things.
