What to put in my system to keep it clean all through growing?

Flush,clean, and sterilize the system. Then add fresh solution and add some bennies or Heisenberg tea. Keep those water temps in check too.

Drip clean will not sterilize it. That stuffs meant to just flush out salts and particles. Just drain your system, add plain water and 5ml per gall of 35%H202. Run for thirty minutes. Drain and refill with fresh nute soup with added tea or bennies. Dont add H202 unless your cleaning as it will destroy a colony of bennies. High Temperatures are more your enemy then needing to add shit to keep a system clean. Do your best to keep it below 70F(reservoir). Summer months are a bitch keeping the res cool without a chiller.

You have two options:
1. The sterile route. You just need to get a concentrated hydrogen peroxide (29%) H2O2. By adding this to the reservoir, it will reciculate thru your bucket system and keep all of the roots sterile and protect them from growing any pathogens. This will also add extra oxygen to the water, so that the roots can thrive without the risk of them taking in all of the oxygen and choking (root rot).

2. The biological route. You would need to run a beneficial bacteria through your system so that the roots are given microbes and beneficial innoculants that will stimulate root growth, but still feed on the pathogens, root rot, or "slimy" brownish build-up that happens on DWC systems. Compost tea works really well for this, but you are going to want to brew your own at home so that it is the freshest possible. You also only want to run this thru the system 1-2 times weekly so that it does not recirculate the whole time (this will cause sludge and slim in the form of a bio film around the roots and buckets.

how come I never ever use h2o2 and I never get any slime or problems, I run the house and garden aqua flakes and keep my res at 70-72, my roots are bright white all the way through, I don't even have to cool the res to get it

Sounds like you keep a clean tight ship then. The upper 70s + is ringing the dinner bell for pathogens. I'm running at 74 and getting good results. I'd like it around 67 for more DO. That's what fall and winter are for. Can't sacrafice extra power for a chiller.

You have done a nice job with your climate control, and there has never been an issue with a pathogen getting into the res or root zone. Keep up the great work because it is hard for most people to control the temp of their nutrient solution and keeping quality control down into account when buying or taking cuttings, and the problem just progresses negatively

I must object to that sir. I thought the same thing, that i could get away with just using aquashield or pondzyme, to utter dissapointment. Enzymes make the problem worst. I failed with my uc 3 fucking times...smh till i started using heisenburgs tea with amazing rusults. My Uc is rocking right now into wk 3 with some monsters.

Thats a good temp if your running bennies. In heisenbugs thread somewhere in there he talks about the temp range that the bennies are most active(70º-75º). I keep my chiller set at 74º with a 1º variance to keep the temps at 73º. Shits rocking right now
