Hi.

I have two small plants ready for transplant into their permenant home. I would like to use a soiless mix so i can do the nutes when I want to and to be in control of it. I have heard so many darn recipes for growing in--Perlite, pete moss. I see these two at Walmart. Can I grwo well in a mixture of these two? Maybe 75 pete moss and 25 perlite? Can someone help me with what I can get at Walmart to grow in? I see miracle grow potting mix but it says it slow "feeds" the plant up tp three months. I want soil with no nutes so I can do this myself. I do have a lowes near here as well. I am hoping someone could be specific with these two stores and hopefully with just perlite and pete moss.

Thanks

I'm a beginner and need a simple and easy soilless mix.

From your local Hydro store get some Promix, vermiculite and Perlite.
Mix in the portions of 50% promix, 35% perlite and 15% vermiculite. This mix is nice and loose and will promote great and fast root growth. All though it doesn't retain water that well it is good for beginners because it will help safeguard against over watering. Plus if a beginner runs into problems with PH or over fertilization the properties of this soil make it quick and easy to remedy.

You probably can't get the promix at Walmart so just pick up there cheap potting soil (stay away from Miracle Grow) and add vermiculite and Perlite.
