i saveed used dirt for my next grow and now i got worms. the plant looks good though. and i dont want to transplant cause its gonna messed up my roots and. what should i do

the dirt im using to is always wet cause i tried to flush it and use it but it doesnt dry

shoulda used better dirt of course..
Must have seen that recycled grow journal and thought that it would work for you...

Why use dirt that is already used? It probably dosent dry because the air cant get in around the old roots.
And the worms are eating those.... Worms had to come from somewhere and they dont sound like the good type...

they maggots earthworms or wassup? Lookout for other bugs in the room, they had to come from somewhere...

i thought the dirt was good, and also scan through for bugs. and now this. but yeah i saw the worms there earthworms on steroids.
just came up with this to solve my problem. im going to put the plant underwater and hope it drowns the worms

Earthworm are VERY good for your soil for several reasons. Discarded seeds thrown in my warm farm pops up & does very good. The soil I use is a couple million years old... Old Dirt? If your worms die, then you have bad soil. Not drying out is bad drainage and/or too much watering. Whole ground/stone ground cornmeal will kill root rot, mold, etc, feed the worms & add nutes to your soil. Good Luck.

Are they basic earthworms ?..if so no problem...actually good...

twisty maen! how it going brother? You know me by a different name somewhere else, just not by this one here...

very sound advice other than the old soil....
Most commercially bought soils arent really good to use after a grow.
Sunshine pro mix sucks ass after you use it once just as an example....

old soil can be fine if you use supplementary nutes through something such as foxfarms or general hydroponics....But you may have salt buildups if your soil dosent flush out right as he mentioned his didnt.
And salt buildups can eventually kill off plants as well....

repot the plants and keep the earthworms if possible. If nothing else take them out and any soil that dosent have roots stuck in it you can crumble up so that its loose again... add rock layer to the bottom of the pot about 1 inch tall to improve drainage....

nice going using old unsterile soil, could've at least sterilized it before you dumped your babies into it.. using old soil is like dumping your loved ones directly into the trash can

all i can say is nice planning

al them old shit in the old soil can go BAD, ever heard of the reason for not reusing soil? pathogens, fungus, bacteria, old roots that rot and infect the good roots

If that's true then how come we're able to continue planting on the same land? How come you can't just kind of re-compost it and give it a boost and there ya go? It's what I do, and no, I don't bother with sterilization (fuck using my $5,600 range for that!).

Growing outdoors, killing my plants with LOVE, not the soil.

We don't know what the worms are, no pictures, nothing. We don't even know if the plants are sick. The presence of invertebrates can be like a canary in a coal mine, often they're the "first responders" showing us when there's a problem.

Since he's saying the soil doesn't dry out, either his conditions are REALLY humid and wet, or it's got something in it that's holding onto water. We actually don't have much information to go on, other than he's freaked out by worms. Which, if you think about it, is pretty fuckin' funny (at least from my perspective, I crack up at guys who get squeamish about bugs).

Aw, come on guys. I had a bunch of 'newbie' questions not too long ago myself. Until you solve a few problems and your sucessfull, a lot of the grow faqs and how people make a huge deal of little stuff, you really don't know. Everyone makes it sound so hightech and sensitive when thats really not that case. And weed is not a frail little plant. In my first batch, I had an accident in transport that was basically throwing a whole piece of plywood flat over the top of 6, 2 weeks into flowering 3 1/2 foot females...... oh yeah. Sheer catastrophy. 5 lived & no hermies. After a lot of sticks and wind from a fan, they ended up just fine. Cut down on my yeild obviously, and it took me 3 weeks to fix the 'lepricy' it looked like they had. And I had to learn to clone in the wee hours of the morning. With 100% sucess rate with the videos of u-tube I might add. I was freaking out, didn't have a clue what to expect.

I'm not a genius. One guy wrote 'growing weed is as easy as growing tomatoes'. I couldn't agree more. The best piece of advice I got was 'newbies have a tendancy to over-think and over-react'. It's not near as hard as people make it out to be (if your using a soil/dirt medium). Just don't over-do anything.

I'm not trying to bash the "newbie" questions. However, it IS a bit irritating to see that the site admins and moderators, along with some significant contributors, have put a lot of effort into providing a lot of information. The vast majority of newb questions are answered by a simple visit to the GrowFAQs. I did my own research before even joining, and then before asking questions I spent DAYS in the GrowFAQs. So, the real issue is people who want to be spoonfed, for me at least.

for the time that youve been doing this I think seamadien is the most developed person that Ive seen on these forums.

I agree with the above
While everyone has to learn, it dosent need to be specific questions as soon as the user can figure out how to make a thread....
A bit of reading can take one farther than asking a million questions.....and much faster as well.
