what the fuck just happend.....BANNANAS

So i check the cab today and BOOOM first thing i see is a bean on one of my girls. Since i have never had to deal with this issue before i need some help from the RIU crew. SO let me start with my set up.
Light 430 watt sonagro
soil ffof PH at 6.5
nutes botanicare original grow and bloom + cal mag + sweet. i use these at 1/4 stregth only every 2 to 3 weeks ph at 6.5
50 cfm pulling air out and fresh outside air coming in at 50 cfm
NO LIGHT LEAKS i locked myself in to cheack and its pitch black.

Im growing five or was growing five now 3 diffrent strains. The 2 that hermied were bag seeds to start off. They were in day 40 of flower. One had little groups of bannas growing in the buds. The other one has clusters of seed growing but no bannas. Can some one just explain the diffrence and mabee some causes that could have made this happen. I know i had some really low temps for like 2 weeks. I got that fixed a month ago before flower. And yes i could tell they were stunted. Thanks :joint:

I chopped them already and did not get any pics of the bannas but they were for shure long yellow pods sticking out. But on the other plant it has a cluster of pods that look like cylaxis but seedlike.

Man i paniced lol. well they were just bag seed and i have 3 other girls in there diesel berry and critical so i was way to worried that the bag seeds would polenate the others. If i did pic them and scanned daily untill harvest would i still be in danger of pollinating the others in the cab?

Your bags seeds were from a hermaphrodite mother to begin with, probably just unstable genetics.

Yea i was breaking in a new cab and wanted to just through some in to do a test run. I wont be wasting time on bags seeds agin lol. In my veg cab i have some candy kush, super silver haze, High level going. And watching good genetics grow versus the bag seed is just a world of diffrence. They look so much better and healthy. I just wish i caught the nanners before they polinated the other plant.. O well live and learn.. fucking bag seeds suck

i have had quality genetics hermie on me as well but it wasnt anything like i have seen bagseeds do.

bottom line is that hermie genetics are instilled in every canabis plant as a survival mechinism, wether you see stressors or not they may be apparent to the plant, things like a room full of women or 40 days into flower and no polination yet will make them trigger that genetic trait to help them carry on thier genetics. its not always the growers fault, and its not always the breeders fault....sometimes its the plants fault lol....if that makes any sense.

the problem with bag seeds, especially from a bag of good quality pot. is if you find a seed chances are its because a plant hermied. generally most people who grow have no use for male plants so they get culled as soon as they are spotted. sometimes one might slip through but usually its a hermie(s) in a crop of supposed to be sensimilia. the only bag seeds i would prob trust is seeds from a really shitty bag of bud because them mexicans dont give a fuck haha

Soma seeds used to breed feminized seeds by flowering the plant he wants to turn male longer untill it get nades then using its pollin on a female thats been flowering for like 3 weeks.

Soma's version of making feminized seeds.
Creating feminized seeds is an art, there are a few different methods of application. I have written about some of my different methods of making seeds in previous HIGH TIMES articles. I have use gibberellic acid, light stress, ph stress, and fertilizer stress to force my plants to make seeds. All these methods are harsh on the plants, and some like the gibbrellic acid, are not organic. In my search for cleaner more earth-friendly ways of working with the cannabis plant, I have found a new way to make feminized seeds.

Feminized seeds occur as a result of stress, other than genetics. All cannabis plants can and will make male flowers under stress. Certain strains like a higher PH, some like a lower one. Some like a lot of food, some like a lot less. There is quite a lot of variety in marijuana genetics, and you can’t treat every plant the same way.

It takes many harvests before you really get to know a particular strain. Just like getting to know human friends, it takes time. I have grown strains for a decade and am truly getting to know every nuance the different plants exhibit. I can recognize them from a distance. I must say that I get a lot of help from my friends, both in making seeds and learning new and better ways of working with this sacred plant.

I named this new method “Rodelization” after a friend who helped me realize and make use of this way of creating female seeds. After growing crop after crop of the same plant in the same conditions, I noticed that if I flowered the plants 10-14 days longer than usual, they would develop male “bananas”. A male banana is a very slight male flower on a female marijuana plant that is formed because of stress. Usually they do not let out any pollen early enough to make seeds, but they sometimes do. They are a built in safety factor so in case of sever conditions, the plant can make sure that the species is furthered.

To me a male banana is quite a beautiful thing. It has the potential of making all female seeds. Many growers out there have male banana phobia. They see one and have heart palpitations, they want to cut down the entire crop or at least take tweezers and pluck the little yellow emerging devices out. I call them “Emergency Devices” because they emerge at times of stress.

In the Rodelization method, the male banana is very valuable. After growing your female plant 10-14 days longer than usual, hang them up to dry, then carefully take them off the drying lines and inspect for bananas. Each and every banana should be removed and placed in a small bag labeled very accurately. These sealed bags can be placed in the fridge for one to two months and still remain potent.

For the second phase you need to already have a crop that’s already 2 ½ weeks into flowering. Take your sealed bag of pollen out of the fridge, and proceed to impregnate your new crop of females. To do this, you must first match the female plant and the pollen from the same strain in the previous crop. Shut down all the fans in the grow room. Then take a very fine paint brush, dip it in the bag of pollen, and paint it on the female flower. Do this to each different strain you have growing together. I have done it with ten different kinds in the same room with great success.

I use the lower flowers to make seeds, leaving the top colas seedless for smoking. This method takes time(two crops), but is completely organic and lets you have great quality smoke at the same time you make your female seeds. If you’re one of those growers that has never grown seeds for fear of not having something good to smoke, you will love this method.

You can also use this pollen to make new female crosses by cross pollinating. The older females with the bananas can be brought into the room with the younger, un-pollinated females when they are three weeks into flowering. Turn all of the circulation fans on high, and the little bits of pollen will proceed to make it around the room. Do this for several days. Six to seven weeks later you will have ripe 100% female seeds; not nearly as many as a male plant would make, but enough to start over somewhere else with the same genetics.

As a farmer who has been forced to move his genetics far away from where they started, I know very well the value of seeds. My friend Adam from THSeeds in Amsterdam has a motto that I love to borrow these days: “Drop seeds not bombs”.

and yeah bagseed seeds suck, i have had nothing but issues with them so i stay away.....far far away.
It's how many growers begin though. My problem with bag seeds were no matter how hard I tried, could never improve upon the quality.

That's when the seed purchases began, and later cloning etc.

Never have I considered a few bannas an issue, When a strain has become as stable as it may ever get sometimes It will do this to perpetuate itself. If you have a strain that you like to push to its blooming limit and you take it straight through to amber looking trichomes the plant will go into a survival mode, this is because the plant will have done naturaly everything it could do to perpetuate itself I.E produce plenty of sticky goo to collect loose particles of pollen. When it fails, it shuts off the perpetuation switch, and turns on the survival of the species switch. Enter the bannans. These are not true herms. In fact they are not herms at all. Everyone who has seen a true herm will no this. A person can Achieve these bannans several ways through chemical reaction to amino acids or naturally through natures process. The later happens in Very stable strains, Put under very severe conditions. We knows these to be fem seeds. Now are they from a stable group of fems? You won't know unless you germinate them. Right? In most cases you will get a fem, or sometimes a hermi, seldom will you get a male from these seeds so there you go!! Also Dutch masters has a couple of products that can be used during flower it doesn't stunt, stop, or inhibit the growth of the bud, in any way. However a few hours after application the little flowers will dry up go away like they never happened. look into saturater and reverse. They work very well. peace:joint:

melungeon Magic came from an abandoned project of my fathers 20 years ago. I took a group of 20 year old seeds that he could not imrove on and started poping groups of 5. Remember the old childrens song on pbs? "One of these things is not like the other?" This is what you are looking for. every strain has one somewhere. An annomoly one compleatly diffrent from the group, a psudo of the strain. Keep popping those seeds, process of elimination is the game here.

Pistles will continue to create trichome with the reverse. I have seen no Ill efffect from the use of this product. However, I personally am very,, gaurded with these seeds, they are little gifts from the weed gods in my opinion. I have brought My Melungeon Magic back from extinction with these seeds. I have also identified several very good psudos as well. They are the beginings of new cloneing projects. Fear not the bannanas folks. A little trouble in the trim process, but very worth while to gleen as many of these as you can. Always keep a supply of fresh ones just in case of disaster. It is much easyer to reach into your collection of stored fem seeds from these bannanas. Than ordering new ones from the seed bank. After all seeds just like those, are what they are sending you for your hard earned $.

im going to have to check out that dutch masters reverse next time. I have some eva seeds high level vegging now and was wandering if it smokes well. anyone tried this one yet
